Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, My doctors and everything I have read told me that there is no blood test that will prove Fibro. So I don't understand why your doctor told you that you don't based on blood test results. They have done several blood tests on me, but looking for Arthritis or Lupus. As far as I know, the only way they diagnose Fibro is the Tender Points Exam and just from your symptoms. And I definitely think you should stay if you want. :-) {{{Hugs}}} Jacqui Jacqui McCallister Age: 39 Dx'd with FMS: 1995, but symptoms since 1984 Additional Illnesses: Papillary Thyroid Cancer spread to lungs, Intra-Occular Migraines, TMJ, Allergies, Periodontitis, Mitral Valve Prolapse, IBS, Arthritis, Possible MPS and CFS, Osteopenia, Bunions, Heel Spur, Light/Smell/Sound Sensitivies, Edema, Insomina, Depression, Panic Attacks Location: Ridgeview, West Virginia USA Divorced, no kids. Mine came back negative. I go back to the doctor Oct. 8th, so she can better explain it to me. This doctor has a rotten bedside manner and I was going to find another doctor, but when she told me that she didn't have enough evidence to say that I have MS, I decided to stick with her. She is a pretty through doc and is hell bent on proving that I don't have MS. Strangely enough, I have never *felt* that I had MS, even though I have had " attacks, " she say's that my attacks are not typical MS attacks. I am very interested to hear what she has to say about the test results. Thank you. If everyone thinks it's ok for me to stay, I'll stay. Rhonda, I wrote a post last night asking if anyone on here was taking prozac or other related SSRI's and think it may have caused their fibro or fibro-like symptoms. I am currently suffering what I believe is a direct result of those medications. I know many on this list feel they help or that they need them. And that is Ok. FOR THEM. You mention being on meds that make you really tired. I was " ZOMBIE MOM " myself for a period of time. Might any of them be SSRI type medications? Please consider that they may be causing your problems. If you think it might be a possibility...I can let you know of a couple other yahoo groups that have many, many people suffering from chronic pain ( and other conditions) as a result of taking and withdrawing from these drugs. Just let me know if you'd like to check out that possibility and I can refer you to those groups and to many other websites too. I have been given a fibro diagnosis myself, but I just don't know if it may be a " temporary thing " as I recover from the damage these drugs did to my body. What all did they do in the " fibro work up " ? Personally I think even if you don't have it, if this list helps you, you should stay. Guest guest
There isn't any way that the meds caused the pain or any of the problems I am having. I had pain long before I started the meds. I had a cervical spinal fusion 2/99 and in 11/99 I was in an auto accident. After surgery I felt fine, but after the accident is when the pain started. I've been taking the oxycontin for a few years now. Now I'm not only taking the oxycontin, I'm taking vioxx, neurontin, robaxin, elavil...just started 6 - 7 days ago, and oxycodone. I can honestly tell you that if it weren't for the oxycontin, I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning. I've been without pain meds, it's ugly! I don't ever wanna go there again. My meds make me tired, but not so much so that I can't function. I do take a nap in the middle of the day. Hate that word... " nap, " I always hated it, never would take a nap in the middle of the day. I used to be an exercise junkie, always on the go, going to the gym or rollerblading or better yet, work! I'm slowly getting back to that way of life. Slowly. *sigh* I am on a list for chronic pain people and they have been very helpful. If you don't mind my asking, what makes you believe that the drugs did this to you? Rhonda Please send me the website addy's. > Rhonda, > I wrote a post last night asking if anyone on here was taking prozac or other > related SSRI's and think it may have caused their fibro or fibro- like > symptoms. Guest guest
They took blood that they check for arthritis and whatever else they do.
