Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group! First thing you need to do is call medicaid and find out which band they will cover. The DOCband, STARband and the Hangerband are all active bands.Your son needs an active band at his age. If you go to a STARband or a Hanger facility you're going to have to do your homework and throughly interview any potential orthos. You can find a list of questions to ask here: http://www.cappskids.org/QuestionsForTheDoctorAndOrthotist.htm With Cranial Tech (DOCband)you won't have to interview your ortho. Banding babies is all they do and are specically trained to do so. I do know that Cranial Tech does have a payment plan if your insurance doesn't cover and you need to pay cash. Yes, it is in house. I don't know about the STAR or Hanger facilities in your area. They are privately owned and it's probably up to each facility if they allow payment plans. I just checked our helmet/band database and we only have one place listed in your area. Starband* Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics East, Inc. 3007 Cypress Street West Monroe Louisiana 71291 Ron Bell 318-325-6415 www.hanger.com www.orthomerica.com Also you can go here: http://www.cranialtech.com/ClinicLocations/index.html and see if there's a CT within driving distance. Or you can look into Angel Flights, they'll fly you for free to and from your appointments. Here is their info: http://www.aircareall.org Has your son ever been checked for torticollis? It sounds as if he may have is since you say he favors his left side. Tort and plagio go hand in hand. You can learn more about tort by going here: http://www.pedisurg.com/PtEduc/Torticollis.htm http://www.drhull.com/EncyMaster/T/torticollis.html http://www.torticolliskids.org/ I hope I answered all of your questions. Please keep us posted on your little one. > > Hello. Guest guest
Hi, where are you from in Louisiana? From what I understand medicaid will cover the band with a rx and letter of medical necessity. If it is for cosmetic reasons they will not. There is a couple of other places in LA that do bands also. There is one in West Monroe, a couple by Lafeyette, and there is a Hanger in Children's Hopsital in New Orleans. If you need more info, let me know. > > Hello.
