-My ped is on vacation till next week. Ugh. And Phoenix is 8

hours from me...I have three kids, and am starting to wonder how I

could do treatment in Phoenix. I may call and ask to speak to

someone and get a referral ASAP (like tomorrow), as I know we're

getting dangerously close to the " nothing to be done for it " stage.

Surger to me, just doesn't sound like an option. What is the

standard procedure? Do you skip your ped and go for the consultation

with CT in Phoenix, and then get the referral afterwards?

Jennie,

ANGEL FLIGHTS can get you to Cranial Tech in AZ for free. Check them

out here:

http://www.aircareall.org

Your first appointment at CT really should be your casting appt, only

b/c of her age. You don't need a referral to go to Cranial Tech, but

you do need a prescription in order to get your dd banded.

Who is your insurance carrier? Call CT tomorrow, find out how your ins

co works w/them, if at all. Hopefully they do!!! Also get in touch

w/Angel Flights tomorrow too. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Jennie,

If you would go to Phoenix, go with the prescription. Some people who travel a distance to Phoenix get the consultation, casting and fitting of the band done in the same day. They can arrange that in advance. And you'd need to go back every three weeks or so for adjustments.

I understand about traveling with three kids. I have three also. During bad weather it was hard just getting across town for adjusments. schlepped 5 kids from LI to NJ for 's treatment. Can you imagine how many times she heard "Are we there yet?"

When you call your ped tomorrow ask if they have anyone locally they would recommend. Make sure they use an active band that would redirect the growth of your daughter's head rather than a passive one. Also make sure it's FDA approved.

You'll need to make sure the ortho is experienced and trained in banding. In the hands of someone who is unskilled the plagio can be made even worse.

Here are some Hanger facilities. I hate telling you to check out a place we have no references for, but you can get a really great list of questions for the ortho here. And make sure they have experience with older babies too!

Good luck tomorrow!

Jennie,

Isn't awesome? :-)She's been a member of this group for years

and has 2 plagio babies out of her 2 children. She really knows her

stuff.

When was banded I only had 5 children, she was my 5th. I was

pregnant w/my 6th while she was banded. I really hated making the

trip, I constantly had to stop to pee. lol It was so worth it though

and if I had to do it again I would.

Good luck!!!
