Guest guest
Bobbi, I believe they use a passive Clarren helmet there. At your child's age, he/she would be best be served with an active band that would redirect the growth. The passive helmets rely totally on growth. Click here to check out some other providers in WA. If there are email addys listed please email those parents for referrals and you will also need to interview the ortho. We have had other members use Angel Flight to get free plane rights to CA for DOC Bands too. Good luck! It is doing an awesome job! I know it's different than what most people have but it is working great for us. I'm very pleased with it. If you have any questions about it please e-mail me! Guest guest
, Hi! I've had such a hard time finging anyone around here with the helmet. I asked the Dr. if we were the only ones ) and he said there were at least 100 of us out there. Just not in Oly. I guess. I wish Children's would keep a list of e-mail or phone #'s of people who want to be contacted by others going through the same thing. Probably too much to keep track of. Oh well! Does your friend's son still have his helmet? Have a good night! ) > > > > > > Hello, we have just been to Childrens Hosp., and our almost > eight > > > month old has been diagnosed with torticollis and plagiocephaly. > We > > > are oing to start PT and get a helmet next month. Guest guest
, Sorry to hear the helmet didn't work for your friend. ( Sucks to go through that for nothing. How is his head now? The Dr. told us that roughly 75% of the kids self correct or improve greatly as they get older. Just wondering if his did or not. Guest guest
She said it softened a bit. The angles aren't as sharply defined, but he is still flat. She doesn't obsess about it anymore. There weren't any active band options available in WA then. My nephews, 3 and 5, have brachy. Their's didn't self correct! > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello, we have just been to Childrens Hosp., and our > almost > > > > eight > > > > > > month old has been diagnosed with torticollis and > > > plagiocephaly. > > > > We > > > > > > are oing to start PT and get a helmet next month. Guest guest
Hi - I have just joined the group and our 6.5 month old little girl is going in to get measured for her helmut in a few weeks. I am wondering how your experience is going? I am curious to know if I should be persuing a 'band' instead of a helmut? I did not think that there were any band provider in the Seattle area. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks, > > Hello, we have just been to Childrens Hosp., and our almost eight > month old has been diagnosed with torticollis and plagiocephaly. Guest guest
Hanger is located in Lakewood and they do the band and other types of helmet therapy. They will be moving to seattle in 3 months but I wouldn't put it off. Childrens orthotics does the Clarion system. My son is being scanned this week for it. I decided to stick with Children's becuase it is closer. The Band requires weekly visits and thus you will spend countless trips driving to Lakewood. > > > > Hello, we have just been to Childrens Hosp., and our almost eight > > month old has been diagnosed with torticollis and plagiocephaly. Guest guest
Hello, I am new to this board. My son was diagnosed with torticollis at 3 weeks old. We have doing PT at Seattle Childrens since about 5 weeks old. He is now 4 months old and is improving slowly, although he is still delayed in his motor skills. (He is in the 10th percentile) We just took him in last week to see if he is going to have to wear a helmet. He does have plagio and it seems to be getting worse. We have a hard time keeping him off that side. I did just learn of a new technique from my PT. We roll up a towel or blanket and put part of it underneath him to keep it from slipping and then lay his shoulder and hip on the roll of the side he usually turns to and it makes his head go the other way during naps. I have not felt to secure doing it at night, but every little bit helps. We go and see Theresa in the Physical Therapy and she is really good with him. Even at 5 weeks when we started, she was great. She specializes in infants and in torticollis. Anyways, they wanted us to reposition for 6 weeks before looking into the helmet. ALthough we have been doing it for a few months already and it is not getting much better. They only do the clarren helmet there...not the band. I wonder if anyone else has had the clarren helmet and what was their experience with it? I guess they said if they do not see improvement with the repos. that they would do a sedated MRI or Cat Scan....? Any ideas if this is the correct route? I have been doing a lot of research, but have not really found much on the helmet. Only the DOCband and STARband. Any info would be great to me also. > > > > Hello, we have just been to Childrens Hosp., and our almost eight > > month old has been diagnosed with torticollis and plagiocephaly.
