Guest guest
Here is a good tip from the KOPS loop I am on - - thought some of you might find it interesting, too. Clara !*!*!*!*HERE'S YOUR DAILY WEIGHT LOSS TIP*!*!*!*! "Reading Labels Can Pay Off In Weight Loss"If you have been one of our readers for awhile youknow that I am big on reading labels. It takes metwice as long to go to the grocery store as mostpeople because I always check labels.I do it for two reasons... for you and myself. Ilook for new foods to make this business of losingweight not so boring for all of us. Many times, when I read a label I change my mind about theproduct and don't buy it.My husband loves Ritz crackers. I bought him the50% reduced fat version. (He hasn't noticed anydifference in taste.) As I was looking at thenutrition label I thought the calories and servingwas very familiar.I picked up a box of regular saltines and guesswhat the serving size was the same...(5). Thecalories were the same...70.) Also, the fat grams, carbohydrates, and cholesterol. However, thesodium was 140 mg on the Ritz crackers and 220 mgon the saltines. The only difference I foundwas... the Ritz cracker did have 1 gram of sugar.(5 fat free crackers have 60 calories.)It really pays not only to read labels, butcompare labels. We do comparison shopping with theprices of our foods to save money. We also need todo comparison shopping with our labels to savecalories, sodium, etc. Now I will not feel soguilty the next time I choose a Ritz crackerinstead of a plain old saltine. Here's to slimming down and feeling great!LillieLillie Ross, mailto:lillie@...
