Guest guest
Amy, As far as I know unless you are using a special supplement formula has the same calories per ounce as breastmilk and nowhere near the nutrition. Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Re: 's 6 WK checkup Wendi, Aren't the calories in an ounce of bm the same as in formula? Janece, If the concern is for measured ounces, supplementing with EBM should do the same w/o the risks of formula. Guest guest
I love my ped this time around also. At mikayla's 4 month check, he told me it was *ok* to give her cereal now if I choose to, but she was doing great on breastmilk only, so we can reevaluuate at 6 months and see how she is doing on breastmilk only. Guest guest
Sue, I think finding a supportive pediatrician is one of the most important things. We take our kids to a GP that I just can't say enough good things about. When still wasn't up to her birth weight at 1 month, I was almost in tears expecting him to tell us to start supplementing. He didn't though, because he knew that the other kids were all rather thin and everything else pointed to being just fine. And you know what? At her 2 month appointment, she'd gained 25 oz. I hate to say it but I feel like it was partly due to the fact that I really relaxed about it, knowing that I wouldn't have to worry about his expectations. Needless to say, he was pleased with her weight gain & the fact that we're still breastfeeding. He's priceless. Love Siamese cats?
