Guest guest
Hi, thank you for answering, it is great to get support from here! Especially when you feel you can't count on the experience of the doctors treating your child... I suppose Emil got the collar because his torticollis was diagnosed quite late as it is mild and it was thought just the PT was not enough. I have also heard it depends on the practices of the orthopedist whether they prescribe it or not. Anyway we are now trying to deal with that, luckily Emil does not seem to mind wearing it! But the collar is not one of those TOTs but an " old-fashioned " one in one piece made of this white rigid material, I don´t know how it´s called. He is supposed to wear it around 7-10 hours a day, only when he's awake. I guess it is not effective to wear a band/helmet only during the night when he does not have the collar? About travelling to get him treated, at this point it seems like the only possiblity but we still hope we can find some specialist here in Italy. We live in Bologna so this is not exactly an air-transport hub from where you could conveniently (and inexpensively!) fly around. Thanks for your comments and if anyone knows about the situation in Italy I would be very grateful!
