Guest guest
I have a friend who according to symptoms has thyroid and adrenal issues and possible pituitary poisoning also. He will be pursuing hair testing and adrenal and thyroid tests. He would like to ensure he is as comprehensively tested as possible and has the finances for all the lab work. So I would like to check what he should DEFINITELY get tested and what he should leave out. Please bear in mind I'm in South Africa without access to may USA Lab options. He will have to ask his doctor to do these tests so must be specific. I would appreciate advise based on your experience. ADRENAL Blood: Cortisol and DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. (must these be taken at specific times?) Saliva or Urine: Cortisol (NOT blood, but saliva or urine 4X a day) RBC - Potassium and Magnesium ACTH - stress response to exercise (as described by Andy) THYROID -TSH - Free T4 (note the word “free”) - Free T3 - Thyroid Antibodies (TPO, which is Thyroid Peroxidase, and Antithyroglobulin) - Ferritin (and do stress FERRITIN, not just RBC) PITUITARY HORMONES Is it worth testing these? - LH, FSH, TSH, PRL and ACTH Thanks, Dean P.s. He is seeing the Doctor tomorrow so early responses would be greatly appreciated :-)
