I have a friend who according to symptoms has thyroid and adrenal issues and

possible pituitary poisoning also. He will be pursuing hair testing and

adrenal and thyroid tests.

He would like to ensure he is as comprehensively tested as possible and has

the finances for all the lab work.

So I would like to check what he should DEFINITELY get tested and what he

should leave out. Please bear in mind I'm in South Africa without access to

may USA Lab options. He will have to ask his doctor to do these tests so

must be specific.

I would appreciate advise based on your experience.

ADRENAL

Blood: Cortisol and DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. (must these

be taken at specific times?)

Saliva or Urine: Cortisol (NOT blood, but saliva or urine 4X a day)

RBC - Potassium and Magnesium

ACTH - stress response to exercise (as described by Andy)

THYROID

-TSH

- Free T4 (note the word “free”)

- Free T3

- Thyroid Antibodies (TPO, which is Thyroid Peroxidase, and

Antithyroglobulin)

- Ferritin (and do stress FERRITIN, not just RBC)

PITUITARY HORMONES Is it worth testing these?

- LH, FSH, TSH, PRL and ACTH

Thanks,

Dean

P.s. He is seeing the Doctor tomorrow so early responses would be greatly

appreciated :-)

DA: DEan, I had my pituitary tested along with a blood glucose test.

I cant remember what they called it [anyone here know?], but it

checks the pituitary levels against the stress of the glucose in the

blood.

BTW, normals levels for me should be: 3.75 - 7.0. -- mine checked

out at .01 and .02 after 4 hours. Freaked me out totally and kept

asking the dr how come. He told me that i prob had a brain tumor

they couldnt see on the MRI. BS!

This dr is world famous here in Houston and i spent $1000s of my

money [he takes no ins - his waiting room is packed too] He kept

lowering my thyroid and gave me Hgh shots and i almost died from the

crashing... I finally got on cortisol from anoather doctor and

started feeling better.

Have your friend check on his pituitary. HAve an MRI check for

physical anomolies and also that test. Big clue he's got Hg probs

if he finds poor pituitary function. It affects EVERYTHING.

Give him all the support you can and bless you for helping him, Dean.
