Guest guest
Ok. This one has me intrigued. It seems the " worse " votes are winning. How do you know? Do you stop taking them, and go back on them? I take birth control pills and have often wondered about this. However, I was leaning toward it being better for me because it keeps my estrogen/progestin levels in balance, and my periods are normal. Of course, I answered " don't know " , because, I don't. Are there any studies on this? Holly (And thanks for the itch relief tips!) New poll for graves_support Enter your vote today! Guest guest
I posted the poll because I was wondering. I was wondering if maybe I've had GD for a long time. When I was young I was always Very Skinny. I could eat anyting and as much as I wanted to. When I went on the pill I gain weight right off. I ate less and still gained weight. I know this is probalby normal for most women. But then when I stopped taking the pill because I wanted to get pregnant, I lost about 10 lbs almost imediately. And I felt like I had more energy... was more hyper, even though I knew nothing about hyperT. And so I was wondering if the pill supressed all of this for awhile. Of course it was probably the baby and all the stress of him being born 2 months early... except maybe the GD cause the premature birth. I do know that some of the symptoms I complained to my ob/gyn about were similar to hyper symptoms, but she just dismissed them as pregnancy and never did any tests. Just trying to figure it all out! > Ok. This one has me intrigued. It seems the " worse " votes are winning. > How do you know? Do you stop taking them, and go back on them? Guest guest
It was me. Was it ok to make a poll? It let me, so I figured why not! I'm new to Graves and just trying to figure everything out. I'm not even sure if I have graves, I'm still trying to find a dr. to diagnose me with more than just hyperthyroidism. I asked about the blood type because I was wondering if the eat right 4 your blood type theory had any correlation to who gets sick. I am type A and am not supposed to eat meat and potatos and other things I always eat and was wondering if my diet was causing this. My grandfather is type A and he is very sick and has been for a very long time. Everyone else in the family is type AB and healthy. So I was wondering if type A's are more prone to this. I asked about birth control pills because I'm wondering if I've had this for a long time but that bc pills suppressed it. Before I started the Pill, I was always very skinny and could eat anything I wanted. Then I gained weight very quickly even though I ate less and less. When I stopped it to get pregnant, I lost about 10 lbs very quickly. I know this is normal for a lot of women. But I'm trying to figure out if I had it all along and maybe this is why my baby was born 2 months preemature or if I developed it afterwards due to all the stress of having a preemie and other things. I do know everything got worse when I weaned him. This is when everything seemed to get really bad. So, that is why I posted the polls. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to. :)Pam > I'm curious as to who has started the new polls and why? Hi! no problem with doing a poll, I set it up so other people can write one up if they have a good question to pose. In the past some of the polls have dealt with symptoms and such. Guest guest
Hi Pam, Glad to see the posts coming through now! It is fine that you posted the polls, I was just curious as to the who and why I went and answered them a bit ago. Did find it interesting that the A and O blood type are the 2 biggest among us...but then maybe they are the most common blood types, I'm not sure. hmmmmm wonder it could have anything to do with the RH factor then? I am O negative. Guest guest
Hi Pam B. With 3 Pam's now I will have to find a way to keep you all straight, so if I confuse someone, please forgive I don't know if I had graves as a child, but I do know that I have had a light sensitivity since I was very very young, started wearing sunglasses before I could walk...and I also have had heat intolerence since I was very young also. Would pass out and get sick when the heat and humidity got high. Maybe that is a clue to predisposition of this disease. I am the only one in my family who has any thyroid problems and that is on both sides of my family. Elaine did a post some months back about the things she had as a child that could also indicate GD or a predisposition to it since childhood too. As an adult, my first sign was sinus problems, something I had never had in my life until GD...so I am convinced they play apart after reading so many posts here and on mediboard of the people with sinus problems. I think we are all still trying to figure it all out Take care, Jody _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

Guest guest
Hi My posts are coming through quickly tonight, for a change I didn't do a poll on the RH factor, but it does have me thinking. I will go and try to figure out how to do a poll, if I have trouble on it maybe someone else could put it on of negative or positive RH factor. Guest guest
Hi Jody, My understanding is that O positive is the most common than A positive is next. I am A positive. Negative blood is less common. If someone knows differently let me know, I may be wrong about this.
