- and any other gel candle newbies,

Can I suggest something on the gel candles. DON'T use the wax chips for

color unless you want the gel to cloud. Even the very slightest bit of

candle wax (the parrafin kind) will cloud that gorgeous gel. If you want

color and don't want to buy off the net - I would suggest getting some of

the wilton (as in cake and candy) CANDY colors. They come four little

containers in a box for around $4 - they also have two or three choices in

the colors. I have one with red, green, yellow and orange and another one

that has blue, red, orange and yellow. Anyway - you want to use the candy

colors because they are oil based! After you melt your gel wax, you can

color with a little of this until you get the color you want. It will not

cloud the gel either! Some fo's will cloud the gel, but so far, I haven't

had any problems with fo's clouding. As far as wicking - yes, you do want to

use the metal tab and I don't think it matters much whether it is tin or

zinc - but you don't want a lead core wick.

I hope this post helps someone out there.
