Guest guest
Hi Lori, both me and my sister-in-law have fibro, and we have both been on Elavil. We both had the same side effects as well as gaining quite a bit of weight with it...my doc says it's a great med, but I just couldn't get past the side effects long enough to stay on it...I hated it! Sorry if that seems harsh, I'm just telling you the truth about how she and I both felt about it. Guest guest
I've been taking Elavil for nearly a year and it has totally straightened out my sleep cycle. I do have the dry mouth to contend with, but I just carry a water bottle and some hard candies with me, and the problem is more or less under control. I haven't had any problems with grogginess. I wonder how much of a difference the dose size makes on the side effects. I know that my dose (75 mg) is quite a bit lower than it would be if I were taking it for depression. Cheers, Diane
Guest guest
I have never heard anything good about Elavil. I don't understand why they still prescribe it. It is a very old drug. It has been around for over 25 years. There are newer and better drugs for you. I took it back in the 60's and got very sick from it. If I were you, I would stop taking it and ask your doctor for something newer. -Lynne --- NorthShorePixie@... wrote: > Morning everyone...My doctor put me on Elavil this > past week, and when I take > it it gives me horrible dry mouth and makes me feel > like someone dumped lead > into me, Has anyone been put on this stuff? and did > anyone have weird side > effects? Guest guest
I am probably late with my answer as I have not been able to answer email but I take Elavil every night to help me sleep. An awful lot of medications can cause a dry mouth. I have some that do. I have not had any problem with Elavil and I recommend it highly for something to help you sleep. I am allergic to many classes of medication and my doctor was happy that we had finally found something to help me sleep. I personally think that the other medications that I take a night also has a lot to do with it. Take care, Irene co-moderator > Eling everyone...My doctor put me on Elavil this past week, and when I take > it gives me horrible dry mouth and makes me feel like someone dumped lead > into me, Has anyone been put on this stuff? and did anyone have weird side >
