A few weeks ago an item appeared regarding a tasteless commercial

from Blue Cross Blue Shield that involved the EMS profession.

I promised to follow up with my Blue Cross Blue Shield representative

regarding this commercial. Below is the text of her reply to me. I

am thankful that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas is not involved.

" Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas has been contacted and verifies they

had no part in the " EMT " video/commercial. All Blue Cross and Blue

Shield plans are independently owned and operated. "

Among other things, it's a good reminder to not take absolutely

everything we see or read as the absolute truth.

I spoke with Dan Detar in the Dallas marketing office. He assured me the

commercial would not air in Texas, and the state that produced the

commercial is now " considering an alternative " .
