I would continue to breastfeed, as bm is the easiest digested and

absorbed substance.. and if he vomits and happened to inhale some, it

wouldn't cause in fection.. You could try giving him sips of pedialyte along

with bf, to keep him hydrated.. But my ped said bm was best even for vomiting

Take care

<< Some people (non bfers) questioned my continuing to nurse Drake

even when we all had the very bad stomach flu, milk products they

thought were to be avoided.>>

Breastmilk is considered to be a clear fluid. It is not a dairy

product which is what most people associate with milk products.

Nursing is what is best for the sick baby. Pedialyte offers no

nutrition, only liquid, which breastmilk has plenty of. That is old

and incorrect advice.

Just nurse nurse nurse...

<< I would keep nursing him it will give him the antibodies that he

needs to fight off this (sounds like stomach flu, food poisoning)>>

Just wanted to comment that food poisoning is not contagious. If mom

has food poisoning, it is perfectly safe to continue to BF because the

toxins from the intestinal tract do not get into the milk. If baby ate

the same food that gave mom food poisoning, then it is possible but

the best advice is still to continue nursing.

I thought that bm was good for dehydration??? I don't know from personal

experience but that is what I have heard. If I were you I would just

continue bf because you antibodies go to him to help him fight off the

sickness.
