Guest guest
well everyone, i made it...i'm in between pain meds to take effect..july 12th 8am i officially went over to the other side. i ended up with an infection in my incision, so i spent 2 extra days at nwh. i won't lie...the pain hurts so much. my back feels like it is broken in 2...any suggestions besides having the heating pad on it? i usually sleep on my side and that is way to painful to do yet. i have to see dr. thayer tomorrow...hopefully all is well. tell me it gets easier as each day goes on please... kim fitchburg
Guest guest
Kim, Welcome to the other side! I know the pain can get tough, I suffered a lot also. My back gave me the most problems, but I found that if I layed in a recliner, or finally on the couch, but " cocooned " into a tight position with a blanket, as well as having my back in more of an upward position. I finally found that lots of my pain in reality was also caused by indigestion. Not Reflux or anything (haven't had that since surgery! ), however wicked nausea at times. I found that when I took Pepcid AC, my back actually felt better, so I sorta blame the pain on a combo of a bad back, plus possibly " trapped gas " in the area. Do NOT take anything without first consulting with your Dr., but you could always ask! I'm telling you that every day does get better! The more you move around (as much as it may suck), the more the muscles will stretch a bit more to help reduce the pain. I hope the infection is cleared up, and watch for pink " halo " effect around the incision, fever, chills, or extreme pain where the infection is to be sure nothing has deepened more into the wound. Take care sweetie! Guest guest
Kim- Glad you're feeling a little better! I'm so envious of you NWH patients that get your staples out so quickly. Dr. Mun leaves them in for 3 WEEKS! Actually, by the time my appointment is, it'll be 3 1/2 weeks. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It is SUCH a pain in the ass having them in this long. He said he used to take them out early, but now he leaves them in for the 3 weeks to cut down on complications. I don't think it's a bad thing to be a little cautious...well, I didn't until having to deal with these staples for this long! hahaha. Oh well...they come out this Tuesday. I will survive. :-) Congrats on the 6 pounds, too, you LOSER!!!! :-) Jeff ~What's the difference between a southern zoo and a northern zoo?
