We are a local office in Boca treating children with autism with special testing of the biochemistry. The majority of our patients have been to DAN physicians and for one reason or another have discontinued. The testing will be able to determine why your daughter is having these behaviors. www.pHtestlab.com

Dear list members,My 4 rd old daughter that is on the spectrum is having a really tough time right now and am wondering if there's any supplements to help with the following. We were under a DAN Drs care & protocol including GFCF x2 yrs. etc. until May 2009 due to finances..... For approx. 2 mths give or take she has been "extremely" irritable, angsy, whiney (sp) and constantly scratching herself she has scratches on her entire body that look like cat scratches. Almost like she's jumping out of her own skin. her ability to attend and focus have also regressed and affecting her therapies and school performance. I am hoping that maybe someone can recommend a supplement and or supplements to give her to help treat these issues. Again she was under a DAN protocol for over 2 yrs. including extensive supplements, GFCF diet, vit B12 shots, etc. but has been off for approx. 2 yrs. since we took her off the diet and supplements she's done quite well to say the least however lately it's like she can't put into words how's she's feeling so she acts out, misbehaves, cries alot, gets very angsy, and scratches herself to the point of almost bleeding.Any thoughts recommendations would be grately appreciated.Aileen

I have seen some of my clients who acted out in the same manner and it turned out to be gastrointestinal discomfort from ulcers and other issues in the upper and lower GI tract...I hope that helps

Aileen,

My son's doctors at Pfeifer center give him B-12 for focus and niacinamide to

help w/ the mood swings. I suggest you ask your child's doctor about using

these, so you can get the correct dosage for your child. My son has alternated

between injections of the B12 and taking chewables. We currently use chewables

at breakfast and lunch.

I also think the scratching may be the issue. Think back to when yo had chicken

poxs as a kid. The itch kept you from thinking of anything else and your mood

was atrocious as you could never get comfortable for long. I don't know what

the itch could be but I would believe the behavior issues are caused by the

itching.

Good Luck.
