Guest guest
Hi Louise!Have you already checked the Links section of the group site? There are folders there which contain links to products that help with repo and tummy time, including preventative repo. In many cases, products used for repo are also ideal for preventative positioning.Plagio Prevention Products Repo and Tummy Time Products Repo Tips Tummy Time Tips My son is now 16 months old, and I used plagio preventative techniques. My favorite products were the Nightform Positioner , the Baby Bjorn front carrier , and the Noggin Nest . When he got to be a couple of months old, I was able to use the Bumbo Baby Seat instead of the incidental bouncie seat usage with the Noggin Nest. When Gunner got to be almost 4 months old, I started using the Jumparoo and the Exersaucer Mega . My older daughter, now almost 4 years old, had plagio/brachy. This time around with our son, I parented totally differently in hopes of preventing a recurrance of plagio. I carried him around everywhere in that front baby bjorn carrier, and even wore it while doing household chores and laundry. I very rarely used the stroller, and never carried him around in the carseat/carrier in stores on the shopping carts. Would you let me know if you are having trouble with any specific links? I think it has been a while since I went through all of the repo links to ensure that they are all still working.Congratulations on your pregnancy,Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)>> I'm pregnant and am researching products to prevent plagio. Could I> get some feedback on what people are using or have used that work? > Cant seem to find the link to the products. Guest guest
Louise, I see Christie helped you out, but I wanted to give a big plug for the Amby Bed. Guest guest
Just a note of caution I used the Dex Secure Sleeper Ultra 3 in 1 Sleep Positioner since birth which says it prevents plagio. I think in the case of most of our babies with tort. it does not prevent plagio. I've since realized that we need to be looking out for flat spots and proper neck movement regardless of what products we are using. I kind of think it's a bit of false advertising on the part of many companies to say that they prevent plagio. Some may I'm not familar with all of them but I think many companies may be using the " back to sleep " campagin as a way to promote more products unfortunately. Of course this is my opinion but I can tell you my son is getting his DOC band 2/16 and used this particular product since birth religiously. My husband and I were scared of a flat spot developing, even though we knew nothing about plagio or tort. I think the product actually made me be less aware and cautious than I normally would have been. I was under the false impression that he couldn't get a flat spot if he used this product. But I have to say if this prevents plagio. I can't imagine what his head would have been like without it. So becareful everyone! Guest guest
Our tech. at the Cranial Tech office in Atlanta informed us (when we inquired about preventive tools) that they received a memo stating that none of the products advertised to aide in prevention of plagiocephaly were effective. We had purchased several Boppy Noggin Nests and special mattress' and she said they do not work to prevent plagiocephaly. Has anyone else with children being treated at Cranial Technologies received this info.? We inquired b/c we had one twin being banded and one who was to be evaluated at a later date in hopes of rounding without treatment. We were doing everything in our power to avoid banding both babies. Guest guest
Louise, I know Target (along with others I'm sure) sells the sleep positioners with the memory foam - allows less pressure on the skull. Hope that helps. Kim (Ethan 4mos repo) --- In Plagiocephaly , " babykkjr " <dl.lanceleve@v...> wrote: > > I'm pregnant and am researching products to prevent plagio.
