Guest guest
hello peoples, for those of you hosting co-ops, I thought this might be of interest.....see below steph - CT <<Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 00:27:30 -0800 Subject: shipping fragrance oils Dear list buds, It appears that there are problems with people not knowing how to ship oils properly. I used to ship flammable liquids through UPS, and it wasn't a problem as long as I knew what flammability classification that it fit into and I properly labeled the package. I also had to fill out a special hazardous liquids book. Now, on these fragrance oils, some of them maybe somewhat flammable, and I suppose that should be determined before shipping them out. I hadn't thought about this myself and I suppose that the gardenia fragrance that I co-opped last year could also have been flammable, but I don't remember that it came in that way. Now, I think it prudent to get an MSDS sheet from the manufacturer when you purchase the oil (they should send you one automatically). Then you could just xerox that and include it along with your package so that the post office will know exactly what they are dealing with in a spill situation. Now, if your product is flammable, as I recall, you will have to have special placarding for that and a special records book that UPS will provide. I don't know how the post office works with that. >>
