Icing and sleeping upright well help keep the swelling at bay. Unfortunately, there is probably no getting around the sleeping upright bit... I built up a mountain of pillows to keep myself upright and to support my neck. As for congestion, a nasal spray is the way to go. You may also wish to use cotton swabs to gently clear alway some of the gunk. It's up to your surgeon to advise what you can eat when you get your bands off. Generally, you'll be able to graduate to from the blended diet to very soft foods. Everyday should get better. So, hang in there ... Currently, I'm on day 18 post-op and I have lighter bands on which I can take out for eating and cleaning. Hope that helps ... cheers, on > Hello all.. wow its my second day and its getting pretty hard... breathing is very hard. The doc only had to do upper with genio. So thats good news.
