Guest guest
It's kinda like chocolate to a woman, isn't it? There is NO WAY I'm going to kick chocolate! I never buy soda either, but when we go out for lunch, AHHH! I always order a nice icy coke. MMMM! There was a spot on the Today show about it a day or so aga and there is nothing wrong with it. I simply cannot give that up. Doreen Re: Diet soda and new to this. Just google aspartame, that should scare anyone away from diet soda. There's a lot of good information in the files section on what you can and can't have. It is overwhelming at first but once you start to feel better it does get easier.>> What's wrong with diet soda? I live on the stuff and was just dx with celiac. I have no info and am scared.> > How do i find out what to eat and what not eat? Are there any other treatments? what else can i do for this disease?> > I also have cushing's and diabetes and am fat.> Doreen
Guest guest
Doreen, Diet sodas, like anything else, should be checked with the company for hidden gluten. You should consider limiting them for the first few months, not because of gluten or any artificial sweetener, but due to their effect on the body's pH and calcium absorption. Studies have show that nearly 100% of adults diagnosed with CD have calcium deficiencies -- and that the drugs used to treat osteoporosis can cause dangerous problems in those with CD (basically, we are not absorbing calcium in the diet and the drug won't allow our body to get what it needs from the bones, which can cause heart problems if blood calcium drops). Anway, the first year after going gf, you need to be absorbing as much calcium as possible - sodas of any kind interfere with this. Your body uses bone calcium to offset the decreased pH from the sodas. Another thing to watch -- too much salt in those of european decent (those of african descent tend to get high blood pressure from excess salt, while those of european lose calcium from bone instead ... just one odd difference in genetics). Personally -- I prefer no gluten (and gave up sodas years ago and had to stop all soy as well) to the multiple pills of pre-diagnosis. -----Original Message----- ty. I cannot give up everything I know to be true and my soda.My goal here is not to become the most healthy human in the world. I just want to feel better. I take 24 pills a day and 2-5 shots a day.I have endured 10 operations and am very ill. Right now I am refusing to be tubed. It just doesn't sound like fun.It terrifies me.
