Vacation and sick time

In our department you earn 24hrs of each a month, and when you use it you

have to use 24hrs at a time you cant half it. You are eligible to take it at

anytime as long as you give at least two weeks notice on the vacation time. You

can cash in sick time and vacation time if needed

Howdy all. We're doing a survey on other department’s vacation and sick time.

Trying to find out how others accrue it, when employees are eligible to take it,

and if the employee has the option to take a " buyout " of accrued time. Please

I don't know the exact number accrued each pay period, but up to 10 years the

employee accrues 2 weeks a year. We charge out each shift as 16 hours PTO or

vacation time or holiday time which ever they are taking. 2 holidays equal a

shift,

again charged to the employee PTO at 16 hours per shift. The other 8 hours is

listed

as time worked. We do not pay additional time if a employee works a holiday.

However

that are allowed to take their holidays at a later date. Also remember they are

off

for 24 hours PTO and are only charged for 16. We allow them to take their PTO in

12

or 24 our increments. The exception to this is if a employee is enrolled in

college

and is using the time to attend classes. The employee then must take it in 6

hour

increments and are charged with 4 hours PTO and the other 2 hours as time

worked. I

the employee is currently enrolled in a EMT-I or EMT-P course we allow time off

to

attend. The employee returns to duty immediately after the class.

We also allow Time, one employee works for another and pays them back in

the

next pay period. This time must be requested and approved by administration. We

have

a limit of how often a employee may work Time. We do from time to time

make

exceptions.
