Well, we go to CT (which by the way was a choice of what we felt

comfortable with, dont want to offend anyone else) on Tuesday to get

Emmalea casted! We are so excited! I am a little nervous about how she

will deal with it, and glad she wont remember it. Please keep Emmalea

and our family in your prayers as we embark on this journey. I will

be sure to keep you all posted!

Good luck on Tuesday. Even if Emmalea gets upset during casting it's

only 10 minutes. She'll be back in your arms and then splashing in

the tub as soon as it's over!

P.S. Your post made me laugh!

Which location are you going to? Don't be nervous, the worst is over

(casting). Let us know when the band comes in. Good luck!

Good luck with everything!

We had Ian casted at CT last monday(10/10) and his band came back this

week. He cried all thru the casting & pictures, but as soon as I

could pick him up he stopped. And I think that he actually likes his

DOC band. He got all smiley when I put it back on yesterday. :)

Try not to be nervous, the casting doesn't take all that long, and she

might not even cry through it! Waydon didn't cry his first casting

with CT!!

Good luck!

Sue: Your questions and concerns are natural. You should not be in any pain or major discomfort. Some people have gas pains. After your surgery, be sure you walk often in the hospital, swing your arms around and keep moving. Laying in the bed all day and night is NOT good for you.

You will not be hungry after surgery. Take in the fluid, jello, broth, in the hospital and you will be full. Stay true to the post op insturctions when you get home. Before you leave, be sure that you have ordered your clear liquid protein and have it in place when you get back home. The Liquid Whey vials are great in juice with crushed ice. Keep the protein in your system with the clear liquids and you should be fine. About the last day of each phase, you will start to want the next level foods. That is normal. I highly recommend that you keep your mind occupied with work, activities, and odd jobs to keep your mind off of food. Your greatest challenge will be your "Head Hunger" and the need to Break Old Habits once you get home. If you have your 60 + grams of protein a day with your jello, juice, mushies, etc., it will be easier for you. If you leave the protein off, you will have a propensity for more struggles through this phase. For me, craving solid food or craving particular foods was not a major problem. On the days I felt like I just wanted something more, I added more jello, applesauce, or another protein vial of Liquid Whey to see me through it. Believe it or not, it doesn't seem as long as you think. It will be over before you know it. I can't stress enough that you MUST control the head games. Stay positive, you will be so encouraged each day as you step on the scale those first few weeks that you will be on a pretty good Cloud 9.Best of luck to you. You will be fine.

I am scheduled for July 7! I know that whatever the discomfort that goes along with this surgery- it will be more than worth it. But, can anyone tell me how difficult it is to stay on the post-op liquid diet? Will I immediately feel full with the small amount of liquid that is mandatory right after surgery? Did you crave solid food or did the liquid diet satisfy you?THANK YOU!!Sue

Hello Sue: I think it is different for everyone, I didn't have much trouble till the last couple of days. Go into it with the mind set that it is only for a short time and it will help. It was extra hard for me because I HATE JELLO. For me the scale kept moving so it made sticking with the diet a little easier. Good luck Kenazsue40 <logfrog4@...> wrote: I am scheduled for July 7! Ok, I didn't read this email in time! I tried to eat a little

artichoke/jalapeno dip tonight. I know, I know, not the best thing to

do when you're supposed to be on clear liquids. I will NOT do this

again, I haven't been getting the protein in. What can I do about my

dilema now? Feels like horrible heartburn/indigestion, keep having to

spit. Should I throw up? Please help!

I like jello but haven't found one that doesn't use aspartame! I tried making my own with gelatin, koolaide and sweet n low (it is supposed to be splenda but I didn't have any). To much of a sweet aftertaste. I will try it again with splenda and see if it is any better. Otherwise, no jello for me!ken berg <piensky2001@...> wrote: Hello Sue: I think it is different for everyone, I didn't have much trouble till the last couple of

I like jello but ever since I got my band, Jello hasn't worked for

me--don't know why, it just doesn't want to go down!

Oh Theresa,

I have been there many times (but not from jalapeno dip a week after

surgery!). Just keep spitting and try not to swallow it. I don't

think you should throw up this soon if you can help it but it may just

come up on its own!

The first couple of days after surgery when you are still healing it is easy to stay on the clear liquid diet. Once you feel better, it becomes horrible. I had the surgery on the 24th of May and after about 7 days was going crazy. Once I started on the protein

drinks it was better for a few days but, then you are sick to death of just drinking liquids. Immediately after the surgery, I would feel stuffed in the top half of my stomach and starvingin the bottom half. The first month is hard. But, I lost about 13 lbs in the first week and just

that little amount of weight has made me feel a lot better all over. It will be hard but, its worth it.ColleenOn 6/14/07, azsue40 <
