Guest guest
Ok, Hannah is now 15 months and helmet free....but let's go back to the beginning, shall we? Hannah was born Oct. 25, 2004. At birth, her head was fine, though she did seem to hold it to one side a little. Nothing was ever mentioned. Then, when she was about 2 or 3 months, my mother is actually the one who noticed her head shape was a little off. We didn't pay too much attention, because our other daughter, who is now 3, had a mishaped head as well...and of course the Dr. told us it would correct itself, and we really hadn't paid too much attention to her head after that, either. Well, I started really looking at Hannah's head in Feb. of 2005. That's when I noticed it was getting pretty bad. She was about 4 months old by this time, and I started looking it up online. I started looking at Milena's (our 3 yr old) head a little more, and noticed that you could still see her plagio. I tried repo for about a month, but she was so squirmy, that it just didn't work. I didn't even mention it to our ped when I went and maid an appt with a neurologist. The day before our appt...we had a regular check-up with the ped. I mentioned it to him at the end of the check-up (he didn't even notice it during and her's was high moderate to severe with moderate tort). He said it would round itself out....I just looked at him and said, " Well, you told us that for Milena, and her's never did! " He was shocked that I said that, and so was I. He said if I wanted, he could send me to a neuro, but he thought they might only to stretches for her neck...which mind you he didn't even say anything about during the exam. I told him not to bother, cause I already made an appt. He said he was interested to see what they said...how kids come in there all the time just like Hannah, and nothing is ever done. Well...we ended up having to wait a few months, insurance wise, but she was highly recommended for the band. She was Starbanded 9-9-05 till 12-15-05. She didn't get perfect correction, but since she was already 10 1/2 months old when she got her band, we didn't expect it to be perfect. I still notice it from time to time...but overall, I am very happy with her results. Jill
