I hate lying because I'm so bad about it, too. I have this glass face

and you can totally tell what I'm thinking despite what's coming out

of my mouth!

Ethan has gotten bad about lying/fibbing since starting kindergarten.

His big thing is to deny any involvement at all. I heard something

hit his ceiling fan yesterday and I went to check it out and he's

looking at me with this 'deer in the headlights' kind of look. I

asked him what happened because his fan cord had been knocked up over

the light and he said " Nothing. " He had his belt in his hand and I'm

like " Uh huh, you were swinging your belt weren't you? " and he

said " NO! "

What am I supposed to say to that? I wasn't there so I can't PROVE he

did it, and he knows it. I just reminded him of the " no swinging

things in the house " rule and went on.

The night before the kids were playing in Ethan's room and I

distinctly heard a SMACK before Willow, 2 1/2, started crying.

Ethan's friend came running in to tell me the baby got hurt, and

there was Ethan again with that 'deer in the headlights' look. I

asked him what happened and he said " Nothing! "

My daughter is very verbal for her age and I asked her

what happened and she

said " Ethan hit me. " I asked him if he hit her and he said " No I

didn't! " I said " I heard her get hit. " He still denied it. He said

she hurt herself with a marker. What he MEANT was she had a marker he

wanted and he hit her for it. I don't know if he doesn't get that or

if he just doesn't want to get in trouble.

He drives me crazy sometimes.
