Guest guest
Just one thing I haven't seen mentioned that would have helped me: a backscratcher. I had an allergic reaction to the morphine, itched all over, and in the middle of the night my iv came out with all the scratching. Best wishes and see you on the other side. Guest guest
Okay, I am 19 days pre-op...and I have to say I am not nervous, figure that will kick in...but I am terrified about this whole spoon thing...a spoon to wipe your butt???? I know nobody wants to be too graphic, but there is no one here to help in this capacity....sitting here wondering how long I can hold it...??? Help! Patti > Jeannie- > > I must agree with the others...Chapstick is another BIGGIE to bring. You get really, really dry, and all you can do is swab your mouth with ice water. The chapstick helped a lot. > > I'll tell you...on day 2, they said I could have 1 oz of water every hour...I thought I was in heaven. I cherished that damn ounce!!! Talk about things you take for granted!!! > > So, I'm at day 6 now...and I'm still feeling a little better every day. This morning I finally mastered the art of the " spoon " ...so is officially off the hook(she's so disappointed... RIGHT!!!!). :-) I woke up in almost NO pain...but did take my Roxicet anyway. It keeps me in absolutely no pain for about 5 hours, and like I said yesterday...I'll take no pain over a little pain any day. :-) > > goes back to work today, and I know she's nervous about leaving me at home. I know I'll be fine. I've done everything by myself that I will have to...get drinks, take pills, go to the bathroom, etc. My mom is off the rest of the week, so she's going to spend some time here today and tomorrow, plus there's usually a fairly steady stream of people popping in to say HI. I think my mom and I are going to walk out in the yard today...baby steps! :-) > > I had to tell my landlord not to panick if he sees an ambulance in the yard. Some of my pals stop by in the ambulance on their way back into town from the hospital! Although he should be used to it by now...there always seems to be an ambulance in the yard for one reason or another anyway. :-) > > Well...hope you all had a good 4th. Enjoy the rest of your week. > > Jeff > ~A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.~ > > >

Guest guest
Hi everyone, My hard drive got fried, so I have not been able to logon for over a week. I am using a friends computer, but had to delete all of the OSSG mail, there was simple too much. I hope everyone is doing well, and enjoying their summer... I am speaking at the 7/17 meeting, it is supposed to be a panel of speakers, the topic is " How much help did you need when you got home after surgery " (or something along those lines). I am going to be taking a friend for her surgery that day, so I will be at the hospital all day, anyone else going to be around that day??? Does anyone know if there is a walking path near the hospital? I am doing well. Enjoying my summer off, and spending time with my children. I am so busy, I don't know how I found time to work! I have a great story to share, " How exercise pays off! " Tuesday I had an extremely stressful day. I am in the process of refinancing my house, and have had all kinds of delay's and demands from the lender... I spent the day at NWH with a friend who was having her pre-op testing, and did not get home until 4:00 PM... I got home to yet again another demand from the financier. I was stressed, and angry, and had to find somewhere to fax some documents. I decided while I was out that I really needed to go for a walk (even though it was pouring, thundering, and lighting)! I was on my second time around the walking path when I noticed some scratch tickets which appeared to be unscratched along the fence. I was walking pretty fast and decided I'd pick them up the next time around.... My 3rd time around I stopped and picked up the tickets, continued walking then saw some more picked those up... I finished my walk, and checked them out in my car. There was $21 worth of tickets, but they were soaking wet... I brought them home and let them dry over night.... I won $515!!!! Yes, that is five hundred and fifteen dollars! The moral of this story is exercise pays! Hugs, Joni
