Guest guest
Hello Everyone. I'm fairly new to this site. I posted my first message back in August just prior to my TT. I have Multiple Sclerosis and wondered back then if there was anyone else out there who had MS and had had major surgery - I wanted to know what to expect. I heard from a couple of people on an MS bulletin board that I might expect to be more fatigued after surgery because of MS. Well, I had my surgery on Aug 27 and found out on Aug 29 that I have papillary thyroid cancer with follicular variant. (By the way, I had a biopsy a year ago that was benign, so my Endo and I were surprised to say the leasat.) The nodule was 2.6 cm in the right lobe and a samll benign nodule was found in the left lobe. The nodes were ok. I had RAI, 103 Mci, on Sept 23. I felt worse the 2 1/2 weeks after the RAI than I did after surgery and during the LID prep for the treatment. Absolutely NO energy and very depressed. I started taking 150mg of Levoxyl on Sept 24 and my Endo also prescribed a half tab of Synthroid for several weeks to help " jump start " things, as she put it. I wonder how long it usually takes for the hormones to " kick in " . I'm starting to feel " normal " , in terms of having more energy. But I'm wondering about my metabolism...even though I'm exercising EVERY day and watching what I eat, I feel like I'm gaining weight DAILY! (I don't have a scale so don't really know if/how much I've gained). But I feel like I'm BLOWING UP! Can anyone out there tell me if my metabolism will ever allow me to drink more than water!!!??? ....and another thing - my taste buds have been " off " since the RAI. My toungue feels like it's been burnt and the taste of food is very faint, almost flavorless. I read that it may take several months for taste buds to return to normal...anybody have sny experience with that? Thanks,
