Hi !

a is our resident expert on them but I know a thing or two.

I add a small pinch to my lye water just after I add the lye. Be sure to

stir it into the water just to make sure it's well blended. Then, by the

time your lye water reaches temperature, the silk will have incorporated

into the mixture.

Someone once told me to roll it into a ball (pea sized) before adding it to

the water. However, I found that it didn't mix well with the water then.

Maybe it was just me. I dunno. I just grab a pinch now.

It does produce nice bubbles and a great feeling soap. I'm starting to use

it all the time now. a got me hooked when she sent me soap that had it

in there.

HTH!

I appreciate that tidbit of info. I've never ordered from Rainbow

Meadows, but have only heard great reports about her products & customer

service.

Thanks,

In talking about the silk in soap -- there was a gal on another list who

pointed

out that some folks are allergic to silk (her son was, I think). So it

would be

best to list it clearly as an ingredient or name it accordingly...

You can get the silk fibers over at Rainbow Meadow. They're reasonably

priced and last a long time.

BTW, I heard (from reliable sources) that Rainbow Meadow has the nicest,

cleanest silk. Apparently that means that there is other sources but that

RM is the preferred vendor. FYI.

<<Hope this helps,

WOW - thanks for the great info. I will definitely heed your instructions

as I incorporate silk into my first batch of soap tomorrow. Honestly,

excellent info - thanks for taking the time to post. And, note to ,

good suggestion. I have typically used 'natural' low allergen ingredients

and this is unchartered water for me, so I will definitely label

accordingly! Great info on this list, you gotta love it!! alex
