Guest guest
Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale offers childcare at some church services for children with different types of special needs. http://www.calvaryftl.org/ Subject: Anyone interested in church, but can't go?To: sList Date: Sunday, December 27, 2009, 11:31 PM I've been wondering lately about the number of parents who would like to attend a church, but decide not to go because of their child's behavioral or social difficulties. I am teacher working with children with autism and in the process of my BCBA certification. I go to a church in kendall down in Miami, and i've recently befriended a sixth-grader on the spectrum whose mother thought she could never attend church because of his disruptive behavior. I was wondering, are there anymore of these parents out there? I'd love to organize something so that these kids and their parents can both attend church. Guest guest
My bishop in Weston had a son who was quite autistic which really helped me to feel like we "fit in". Everyone was used to the bishops sons behavior so they didn't think anything of Simon's and were very welcoming and helpful with him.Subject: Anyone interested in church, but can't go?To: sList Date: Sunday, December 27, 2009, 3:31 PM I've been wondering lately about the number of parents who would like to attend a church, but decide not to go because of their child's behavioral or social difficulties. Guest guest
Hi, Yes I am one of those parents. It hard for me first because of the behavior issues and seccond because we really can't afford to donate any money to church. We are paying our kids therapies out of pocket and it's very hard do our solution was not to go to church at all. > > I've been wondering lately about the number of parents who would like to attend a church, but decide not to go because of their child's behavioral or social difficulties. Guest guest
We are Catholic and St. Bonaventure on 136th off 595 in Davie has a room for parents with children. Through someone I know I got a call the other day from Pastor at Calvary Church inviting us, especially our son to their 12:30pm service on Sundays (2401 W Cypress Creek Road, Ft Lauderdale 33309). He was SO, SO NICE! They have shadows and divide the kids in different ministries according to age and behavior/sensory issues, etc. He said that if it was the first time, it would be advisable to get there before 12:15 and ask anyone the whereabouts of the rooms. They also have services on Sat. at 6 and Sundays at 10;15, but the 12:30 was best. Have not attended yet, but Pastor and I had such a wonderful conversation that I feel I should attend at least once. If you want, give him a call first and he'll explain better. YesmÃÂn Anyone interested in church, but can't go? Guest guest
I would be interested but live in Weston so I wouldn't be able to commute to Miami. A while back ago I did a little research on this and was unable to find any Christian faith related programs for our kids. Not sure if that has changed.Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®Date: Mon, 28 Dec 2009 17:35:52 -0000To: <sList >Subject: Re: Anyone interested in church, but can't go? Guest guest
There is a wonderful church in Pembroke Pines called Trinity Lutheran Church (on Pines Blvd. near BBC). It is very welcoming and understanding of our children. We have been members there over two years now. There is so much to do, especially for the kids. You can send me a private message if you would like more info. tova1125@...Subject: Re: Re: Anyone interested in church, but can't go?To: sList Date: Monday, December 28, 2009, 8:41 PM I would be interested but live in Weston so I wouldn't be able to commute to Miami.
