Would there be a difference between the different types of pills on the

market as far as the various hormonal connections or the possible need

for ATD increase? Some don't have estrogen at all. I always wonder when

the term " The Pill " is used if whatever assertion is being made, etc.

holds across the board.

Take care, Fay

Holly,

That is interesting. I don't know who initiated the poll, but I wonder if a

similar question would be appropriate for a kind of follow-up. I haven't

taken the pill since before I had any of my kids, so I can't really say one

way or the other how the pill effects GD. But I do wonder if maybe a

question about whether or not any hyper symptoms are worse at the beginning

of your menstrual cycle, or towards the end of your cycle. I noticed that my

symptoms were noticeably worse after I ovulated up until " that time of the

month " . Beginning of the cycle I felt much better. I wonder if the

estrogen/progesterone or whatever hormone levels make a difference for GD

symptoms. It sure makes you wonder!

Good question. I'm assuming that since tri-phasic pills are the most

commonly prescribed, that that's what their talking about. They do have

estrogen. I know I've heard that estrogen has an effect on thyroid

function, but could someone explain the intricacies of it to me?

Thanks,

Holly

Holly,

I have heard/read but can't remember where or when that when on ATD's you

need a higher dose of the birth control pills...I never gave it much thought

at the time because I am too old to have any more little ones...but this is

a huge conflict and I hope someone can come up with an exact decision or we

could end up with several young women pregnant because the pills aren't

working, or being railroaded into RAI because they are not on enough

ATD...interesting new twist here.
