Guest guest
I would just like to state that most " brain " or " psychiatric " stuff caused by all of this can often be due to what happens in the liver. Many people think that if chelation, etc. is making you " nutty " that it's about the brain. When I had a DMPS injection challenge test back in 1999 that made me almost committ suicide, I had no idea what had happened. Andy says in the book that this happens due to redistribution of mercury to the liver and pancreas. this goes to show that what happened to me that day had nothing to do with mercury in my brain, as far as I can tell anyway.... Think about people with 's disease. They build up toxic amounts of copper in the liver and can't excrete it. Many of them have schizophrenic symptoms and literally go crazy. Again, an example of psychiatric effects of the liver. This is what happens to me when I try to take certain medicines that induce Phase I. I have fast phase I. Certain medicines cause me to have what appear to be " psychiatric or mental disturbances " . This has nothing to do with my brain. It's because of what's happening in my liver pathways. question about DMSA and brain mercury Though we know that DMSA does not chelate mercury out of the brain and does not pass the blood brain barrier to any clinical degree, what about those of us who might have a damaged weakened blood brain barrier? Would this then make things more risky in respects to increasing brain symptoms during a normal chelation compaign with just DMSA? Because I do find DMSA increases my brain symptoms and though I know some organs in the body can set of mental symptoms, I am wondering about the possibility of a damaged BBB and DMSA being able to pass it more readily. We know that mercury can also damage the BBB and allow other toxic chemicals to more readily get in and add to the toxicity. So am curious to find out whether that woudl also make it easier for DMSA to get there too...

Guest guest
, I wonder about this also as there are some children who recover from autism with dmsa alone. Makes me wonder about the statement that dmsa does not cross the bbb, maybe for some, it does. Dmsa was a huge part of our girl's 5.4 recovery from pdd-nos, as we have used it with Ala and alone. I know it flies in the face of science, but have always wondered how the kids who use dmsa alone could have recovered if dmsa did not cross the bbb. question about DMSA and brain mercury > Though we know that DMSA does not chelate mercury out of the brain and > does not pass the blood brain barrier to any clinical degree, what > about those of us who might have a damaged weakened blood brain barrier? > > Would this then make things more risky in respects to increasing brain > symptoms during a normal chelation compaign with just DMSA? Guest guest
, I guess that would depend on whether or not the child is autistic because of mercury in the brain or because of mercury in other parts of the body. We don't know for sure what poisoned parts cause what symptoms? Again, the liver can cause many behavior/psychiatric type problems when it comes to mercury poisoning. I too wonder about whether DMSA alone gets the autistic kids well because it is not about the mercury being in their brain. My friend's little girl is 3 1/2 and autistic, and although she is doing Cutler's protocol, she recently saw a doc who's head of the DAN protocol here in Boston, and this doc has cured lots of autistic kids with just DMSA...so go figure!! question about DMSA and brain mercury > Though we know that DMSA does not chelate mercury out of the brain and > does not pass the blood brain barrier to any clinical degree, what > about those of us who might have a damaged weakened blood brain barrier? > > Would this then make things more risky in respects to increasing brain > symptoms during a normal chelation compaign with just DMSA? Guest guest
, Thanks for reminding me that when the liver enzymes are off, it can create neurological problems, interesting. I guess some kids could just have mercury in their bodies and not their brains.....hmmm, would explain why some recover on the dmsa alone. question about DMSA and brain mercury > > > Though we know that DMSA does not chelate mercury out of the brain and > > does not pass the blood brain barrier to any clinical degree, what > > about those of us who might have a damaged weakened blood brain > barrier? > > > > Would this then make things more risky in respects to increasing brain > > symptoms during a normal chelation compaign with just DMSA? Guest guest
What should be done when this happens? Stop the round? And then what? How do you get the mercury or the copper out of the liver? Re: question about DMSA and brain mercury I would just like to state that most " brain " or " psychiatric " stuff caused by all of this can often be due to what happens in the liver. If you become suicidal or have other serious psychiatric symptoms (on round or off, or at any time in your life), the best thing to do is to get some help asap - call a hotline, 911, ER, or contact a friend, family member or someone else who can help you. Long-term appropriate chelation will get the metals out. What is talking below are serious symptoms that develop due to unaddressed heavy metal toxicity, and also due to inappropriate use of chelation in the form of a challenge test. Hopefully, you would not develop serious psychiatric symptoms during a normal round of chelation with appropriate dosing, supplementation, and all known issues addressed. It is not uncommon to experience less critical symptoms of depression, anxiety, OCD, ADD, or other psychiatric/psychological symptoms during the process of detox (heavy metals or otherwise). I think it is a good idea to try to address these in some way, or at least to pay attention to the severity of symptoms, and use good judgment (and perhaps get advice from others) about when treatment is needed. These things can get worse if you don't take care of them. -- > Re: question about DMSA and brain mercury > > > I would just like to state that most " brain " or " psychiatric " stuff caused by all of this can often be due to what happens in the liver.
