I agree, my daughter was 5 1/2 months, and go the chicken pox, after her

brother brought them home from school.. Believe me you would rather have them

have the pox early in life.. I got them when I was 30, and it was a

nightmare!!.. I was very very ill

Take care

Joan,

I doubt that Sam will escape the chicken pox, simply because he is bfing.

Sometimes people in the same house don't all contract CP within one

exposure. It is impossible to know which of your family may escape.

Since Sam is under 1 yr, he hasn't been offered the varicella (cp) vaccine.

I personally would rather get my immunity the old fashioned way if possible.

Comfort measures... Nurse on demand, contact care provider if he runs a

fever for proper treatment, cool baths to alleviate itching, and keep his

nails short.

Hope this passes uneventfully for you,

Amy Lynn

Thanks everyone! When my first 3 kids got the CP, the youngest was 7

mos. and it wasn't too bad.

I didn't know if there is a high risk for babies up to a certain age. I

just hope these three young ones all break out around the same time lol.

My dd caught CP when she was 8 months and still exclusively bfing. She had it worse than her 4 y/o brother, more spots on her itty bitty head than he had on his whole body lol I sponge bathed her with Bur-o-sol from the pharmacy, she actually tolerated the spots very well, I guess she wasn't old enough for them to really bother her? I know of another woman whose 2 week old ds got CP and she was bfing him too.

Michele

I was wondering if, since I'm solely bfing Sam, (4mos.) he will escapethe chicken pox? One son has it now, and there are three others in thehouse (including Sam) that haven't had them yet. Also, if he does getthem, what can I do to help make him more comfortable? TIA. Joan
