Keeping my dose low prevents problems. Some people might totally solve the problem by taking ALA with food. Slippery elm is very helpful for symptoms. Not sure it is enough to heal the stomach. Other things may be more helpful depending on the exact nature of the problem. --

If you have very excess stomach acid production, then acid blockers may help (but they do have side effects for many people). Some people do seem to have this (they would tend to have symptoms of reflux, heartburn, burning or warm sensation in the stomach, etc). This is not my problem. I was diagnosed by endoscopy in the past and had gastritis (inflammation) and some type of bacterial overgrowth (but they could not culture anything). I do not believe I had excess acid (I do not get heartburn, acid reflux, burning sensation, and I have poor absorption and dysbiosis - these seem to indicate low stomach acid). I healed my stomach that time (couple years ago) with slippery elm, DGL, and zinc carnosine. I did not get scoped this time, but the symptoms are exactly the same (nausea after eating) so I treated the same. Already feeling much better. No matter whether you have too much acid or too little, the inflammation problem is the same. DGL and slippery elm both help with this. Zinc carnosine helps healing (including ulcers). You should eliminate things that exacerbate symptoms, at least until you are feeling better. I also find herbal teas of ginger and peppermint helpful. Ginger is not good if you have excess acid (can increase problems). Peppermint is good in either case. I make my slippery elm into a sort of " pudding " - 1 t. slippery elm powder in 1/2 cup water with a bit of cinnamon, and let it thicken (for an hour or two). --

I do not like to have to eat alot of smaller meals as it means too much work with all the supplements I need to avoid upsets. For some of my stomach problems an herb called mastic gum has been helpful for me..Studies show its efficacy to cure ulcers caused by the bacteria Heliobacter {H-pylore} . I cannot remember the company I bought it from .As it is fairly pricey I make my own tincture where I put the resin mastic gum in alcohol and let it sit with shaking twice a day . It looks rather yucky ,just like myrhh gum if you are familiar with this herb. But it helps to settle my stomach.I take less than a teaspoon twenty minutes before eating. I was tested for H-pylore using the breath test but it did not show up . Maybe I have another bacterial overgrowth that mastic helps with. body1million

Guest guest
Hi YoungJaem.. Right now I am totaly in limbo as to my true stomach acid state.,.. I just went out and bought and tried my first meal with betaine-HCL as people here have been mentioning. I was taking Betaine HCL for a few years with the first doctor I saw for my environmental illness. THen I went to someone else and he said NO you should not be taking it-- I stopped and I did feel better..I find taking calcium with meals helps//... I do feel better right now so it is still an experimentbut I may actually have low stomach acid...... For sure with ALA I find the slippery elm helps my stomach . I take 4 big sized capsules of slippery elm powder... I buy it in bulk and put it in capsules. You can buy a little gizmo that allows you to fill 24 capsules at once--I bought it through Harvestfields Herbs in Woodstock ,Ontario ,Canada-- I will look for the website...I do not know at all about if slippery elm blocks some of the efficacy of the chelation .I cannot remember if I was taking it when I had my big healing with my fourth round --I kind of think so,shich would mean it does not affect chelation........body1million --- In frequent-dose- chelation , " youngjaem " wrote: > > How much slippery elm do you take with each dose? so in your opinion > it doesn't effect absorption > > > > > > > >I really like the slippery elm with each dose of ALA/DMSA.
