Guest guest
Hello All!!! I decided to jump on this computer and let everyone know that I haven't completely disappeared ~ nor have I forgotten about everyone! Work on the house is going pretty well ~ we hit a snag with a couple of things ... thank goodness we insisted that the sellers purchase a home warranty for us! We had to replace the sewer pipe and now we're told that all the plumbing should be brought up to code. I spent a couple of days washing dishes in the backyard with the hose! Yeppers, definitely makes you appreciate things! lol Oh, and our electricity wasn't grounded correctly ~ so I got a nasty electric shock, but the electrician fixed it right away. Apparently when the water heater was replaced last year it wasn't wired correctly. Since we only have to pay $75 for each repair, it's not so bad. Other than the plumbing, everything else seems to be fine. It's all definitely been an adventure. All the rooms are painted, however the dining room needs a 3rd coat of red before I can do the gold leaf. The kitchen and laundry room are actually completely done ~ all that's left to do is hang the cabinet doors back up and install the hardware. We laid carpet in the bedroom and decided that we could wait before doing anything to the living room and dining room. Everyone who had been in the house prior to our buying it is amazed at the difference. It does feel good to know that we're doing it all on our own. Jeff has turned out to be VERY handy! He layed down the kitchen tiles and I swear, you would think a pro did it. He also installed ceiling tile in the bedroom ~ I can't wait until the crown molding gets up there. I have crown molding all over the basement floor just waiting to get put up ... it all takes a lot of time and money! Oh, and I've run out of the money ... and never had much time! lol It's been pretty difficult doing all this remodeling/decorating and having to work. I wish we would have had more time before moving in. But, all in all, we're very happy and looking forward to a time when we don't have to lift another paint brush! lol Diet/Weight wise ... well, I gained a few pounds and since then have been maintaining. That's about the best I could hope for. I'm not stressing aobut it too much .... I have to cut myself some slack. I went to the doctors last week and am waiting to hear back from the blood tests. Since I haven't been very good about watching the carbs (plus, not having a kitchen to cook in) I won't be surprised if my A1C comes back a little high. My birthday was the 13th. I wasn't expecting anything since we've spent so much on the house ... but Jeff surprised me with a pair of heart-shaped diamond earings! Speaking of Jeff, he's having an out-patient surgery tomorrow morning. Please think of him if you can. Gotta go ... we need to be at the hospital by 7 a.m. Hopefully I'll be able to get online more often now. Hugs, Babette
