Guest guest
You can also take herbs like alfalfa to get the supply going again. I had this happen when bfeeding my first and it helped me. good luck From: Calvin and Kim To: breastfeedingegroups Sent: 30 May 2000 06:42 Subject: Re: Advice? Suggestions? Sigh, and here I thought it was safe enough. Dang it. Well, I've been nursing now more than ever and drinking more. I think it's working - I'm feeling a little "heavier" tonight. Guest guest
Makes sense as it's an antihistimine which can be used to dry up runny noses, etc, and in the process often dries out the mouth, etc. I was also told not to use the powdered creamers for the same reason, whatever in it that makes and keeps it a dry creamer can also dry up your milk. Guest guest
Kim, Benadryl is the most likely culprit. Keep up the nursing and lots of fluids. Good luck! Wendi http://www.lactivist.com breastfeeding info & resources Advice? Suggestions? I'm nursing my 9 month old. I've never gone by a schedule so some days he nurses more than others. A couple of nights ago, he decided he needed to nurse every 2 hours. Even then, he nurses for only 5 to 7 minutes before going back to sleep. Ever since he was about 4 months old, he's been eating " real " food - started with cereal, now he eats jar food among other soft foods. I noticed yesterday morning how low my milk was. Within the past couple of days, I've been trying to nurse more often, especially the side that seems empty. This weekend I had a cold. I took one Benadryl at bedtime for two days only. I had hoped to nurse at least through his first year. Why is my supply so much less? Is it because I was sick? Will drinking water like a camel in the desert and nursing more often bring it back? Is it normal to take a few days to adjust to this change in nursing?
