Guest guest
Pierre, Well before I even had my coffee this morning I got all riled up from reading what that idiot posted on that newsgroup. I stopped actively participating in newsgroups a few years ago because so many of they achieved ultimate spam and idiot status. Meaning the only posts were spam or from idiots It is very frustrating to see him tossing about lies here and there as if they were fact and also he seems to have nothing better to do than attacking you personally. My personal favorite quote is : " You are suppressing information. You are manipulating peoples views by your own agenda. You are censoring posts and you are raking it in financially, crime and motive there. " Ah the organized crime agenda of Pierre here on the mafia, um I mean kidney board... It's just rediculous. I think later on he says that you can't view igan.ca withougt registering or paying or something like that as well. It's obvious that he's just throwing some sort of temper tantrum. I'm sorry that our popularity here seems to have drawn his ire. I think that all those who are around and actually know you, the group and the web site see through his fiction. All of us here know how much you do everyday to help so many. I think you deserve a tropy. > I don't know how many of you are familiar with the usenet newsgroup > alt.support.kidney-failure > > You can easily get to it via your newsreader. Guest guest
Thanks . I appreciate the kinds words of support. I have to admit, it's kind of frustrating and discouraging when things like this happen. Make money from this? I wish! It might lift my income at least up to the poverty level. I like to do photography as a hobby, and I haven't even been able to afford having a single roll of film developed since last November. During the past months, I've had to sell off all of my photography equipment just to be able to pay the bills (not for the website, but just my family living expenses). A very kind gentleman from the U.S., took pity on my situation as I was trying to sell my Nikon system on a photo forum, and after I sold it, he actually sent me a nice little Nikon camera he wasn't using. I was so overwhelmed by that kindness. So, I don't think I'm making money from this as was suggested in that newsgroup. I don't go out of my way to solicit donations, and what I do get barely covers it. If it wasn't for a couple of patrons who regularly top up the amount I need at the end of each year, there would be no website. I don't really want more though, just what I need for the website. I'm pretty good now for the rest of this year with the donations I already have. Guest guest
On the upside, the Ottawa Senators soundly beat the Toronto Maple Leafs right in Toronto, in their first round NHL playoff game on Thursday night while I was on dialysis I'm hoping for a similar result tonight in game 2. Go Sens! If they win this series, then I'm hoping they can go take care of the Boston Bruins next Pierre Off-topic, but what the heck, I'm the list owner, and it's slow on Saturdays Re: Re: alt.support.kidney-failure > Thanks . Guest guest
I would like to second and Amy's post. Pierre, I hope you know how many of us you've helped. This group helped me immensely when I was first diagnosed and continues to do so in many ways. I am thankful for you and the rest of the moderators and contributors. This group fits any comfort level as well. I am a " lurker " and jump in when I feel comfortable, have time, or feel I have something to contribute. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone and especially you, Pierre, for starting such a wonderful group! Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday weekend! ~Dana Re: alt.support.kidney-failure Pierre, Well before I even had my coffee this morning I got all riled up from reading what that idiot posted on that newsgroup.
Guest guest
Hi Pierre and , I have not gone to the website and read the vile things is referring to...but let me just set the record straight on one thing here. Pierre FAR from profits from this group. As the matter of fact, Pierre supports this group out of his own pocket, and despite the fact that I make pleas a couple of times a year for the group members to help shoulder some of the financial burden from Pierre, very very very very few members contribute anything and it still costs Pierre money out of his own disability to fund this site. Just wanted to make sure there was absolutely no mistake about that point! Pierre is the exact opposit of " raking it in financially " but rather supports this out of his own (very limited I might add) financial resources. > > I don't know how many of you are familiar with the usenet newsgroup > > alt.support.kidney-failure > > > > You can easily get to it via your newsreader. Guest guest
Hi Dana Thanks to you too for the kind words. I'm only human, and I sometimes can use some reassurance, just like everyone else, especially after such a vicious personal attack like that The current tempest in a teapot on that newsgroup reminds me a lot of the kind of hate emails I was getting after I decided to form the group in 2000. Thanks to you, Walt, and Amy (hope I'm not missing anyone), I'm leaving for dialysis in half an hour without worrying about it. I love all you guys.
