Welcome aboard ! Glad to have you here! Ask ANYTHING you want,

we're all here for the same reasons!

I had my surgery at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, MA with Dr. Sheldon

Randall 8/9/99. Love him to death!

I haven't heard of any " bad " places, just opinions with dif't Dr's and such,

but again, it's just an opinion!

Dawn

Hi All !

Hello To All of You! I'm new here, so please forgive me if I ask

questions that you have already answered or don't understand. Just

want to be as informed as possible before a surgery date is set.

First question is where have you had surgery done and any " bad " place

to avoid? I'm planning on Dartmouth, even though I'm in Manchester.

Thanks,

Hi ,

I am Beverly and in NH also. I have been to my 3 visits at Dartmouth, but am

having a lot of trouble losing my 15 lbs. Make sure you are documented at

your highest weight, even if it is at your doctors office, that will count.

Without losing the weight, you will not be able to have the surgery.

Hopefully sometime in the future I will be able to lose my weight of 15 lbs,

but I am stuck and discouraged at this time.

,

I had surgery at Dartmouth and it is a very good place. They now have

more than one surgeon doing the surgery so the wait is a little less

than it was for me. The support system is great and if you have any

questions don't be shy to ask.

I was scheduled for surgery about 6 mths after completing the

requirements. Then they pushed it up a couple of months because I

wanted surgery in the summer to make it easier with my son. This way he

could visit me and not worry about school. The only complication I has

was a wound infection which can be common with any surgery.

Beverly,

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that it would be 15 from my document

highest. I thought it was just from the first support group weigh in that I

did. So far down 6 lbs in 1 month. Have started walking even though my

arthritis bothers me greatly afterwards. Wish I could help you somehow. Maybe

we can be support for each other if you are open to that.

I go to my last meeting in July and have an appointment with the Dietician

the end of July. Hoping to be down by then. I'm moving my son to MI in July so

I'll be getting lots of " extra " exercise!

Thanks for letting me know your there!

Hi Beverly,

I was also told to lose weight (dif't surgeon), so I cut out ALL Coke (Cola

that is), increased my water, exercised as much as a simple walk, STOPPED

EATING FUNNY BONES (Addiction I might add), and watched my portion control.

I lost 8 lbs in less than a month, he was happy!

Good luck!

Dawn, I worked so hard trying to lose the weight and did really well, I lost

8 lbs. and after that they would no longer see me until I lose the entire 15

lbs. I am discouraged and am a little lost on what to do.

I keep up with the group here, hopefully I can get back into the swing of it

again soon.

I have a long history of losing and gaining and getting put down for losing

instead of joy and positive remarks, so I am just here and working on my mind

again.

Beverly,

Does this program offer a Nutritionist to help guide you along the way? I'd

ask, most do, otherwise, perhaps try Weight Watchers or something to monitor

the caloric intake? We ALL KNOW that we CAN lose weight on diets, so if

you've done that in the past, it's sure to work again for the interim of

having a " permanent fix " if you chose this!
