Thanks alot for clearing that up for me. I personally think you would have

to drink an ungodly amount of water for it to be harmful to you and I don't

I've been on diets off and on my whole adult life and of course all of them

push drinking water. I'm a big water drinker anyway, and put away a lot of

liquid each day, some milk, weak iced tea (that's how I like it), an

occasional soda and lots of water. I like my water VERY cold, so I fill a

glass with ice, squeeze a small wedge of lime or lemon into it and drop

what's left into the glass then fill with water. I can usually refill the

glass with water once or twice before I need to repeat the process. I

bought one of those little cooler things with a spout, it's a quart and has

the insulated thing zipped around it, I take that everywhere, especially

while pregnant and nursing.

I was drinking TOO ,uch water, where I saw a difference in my supply, I did

not kow it was the watr until i read about it. I was only drinking 3 32 oz

bottles of water, plus 2 8 oz glasses of milk, plus 1 4-8 oz glass of juice,

and somtiems a decaf frappcino, and I noticed a difference in my supply.

and a book I have about breastfeeding said that more then 12 8 oz glasses of

fluid a day can deminish your supply. so I cut back to 2 32 oz bottles of

water a day, and I saw an increase in my supply. I am sure everyone is

different.

I didn't start giving my girls water until they were about 10 months old.

And only in a sippy cup with meals. They love water! I dont think a young

baby needs it at all though. Breastmilk is 90% water.

I never gave any of my babies (ff or bf) any water untill after they were 6

months old. There's no nutrition in it and all it does is fill up the tummy

with empty calories and they need the calories to grow.

With my first, who was jaundice and in the hospital an extra 5 days,

they told me to give him water and I did. Lots of it - what the heck

did I know. With my second, she was a little yellow and they sent me

home with water but I never used it. The rest had no reason, but when

they were old enough to drink from a sport bottle, my older kids would

give them a drink from their water bottle on all those long car trips to

soccer games, baseball games, etc.

I gave DS water in his cup, back around nine or ten months--before he got

any juice, but even in the hot Texas summer when we were out camping and it

was like 100 in the shade I didn't give him water. I did try to nurse him

every 30 min. since we were all drinking like mad. DS was much happier in

his diaper with bm than the ff baby lying next to him on the blanket in the

shade.

FF infants can need water for constipation, or if they are gaining weight

too fast, but an exclusively bf baby doesn't need anything other than

frequent meals even in the worst weather.
