Guest guest
Berry, Here in Nacogdoches I did not use such a device. We are in a rural area where the basic level student would not go to a college level class, and we had to keep enough people certified as a resource pool. In Rural area's the mentality makes it almost impossible to use a device for entrance into the progam because people just would not apply if we had. I am now retired, and the program is being re written, and may indeed use an entrance device. Just my thoughts on the subject. I was recently honored with the privilege of hosting the TDSHS as they performed a site visit and program evaluation. One of the recommendations by the group was that I begin using more 'entrance criteria' before allowing students to participate in the EMT-Basic program. It was suggested that I use a " competency exam " as part of this criteria. My question to this esteemed group of EMS professionals is do you use such an item in your program? And as you have probably already guessed, if so, may I borrow it? Please respond to me off list if you can assist me with this endeavor at WTEST@...
