I plan to start detoxing with DMPS or DMSA in the next week or two. I agree you don't meet the counting rules. However, 13 in the green/white area is " unusual " , according to Andy. None of the toxics appear very elevated either, although you might want to chelate a bit to get the mercury totally in the green. What does stand out is your sodium and potassium appear to be a good deal higher than calcium and magnesium. This is an indication of adrenal stress, which could be responsible for many symptoms. Blood sugar issues are indicated by the calcium to magnesium ratio. You might want to supplement some zinc and selenium and see if that helps at all. Your phosphorus is a bit low, which raises possible concern with malabsorption, or liver issues. Your level is not terribly low, and I do not know how significant it is. If your symptoms suggest these problems, further investigation is warranted. I think addressing adrenal support and blood sugar management first is a good idea. If that doesn't totally resolve your symptoms, you can do a trial of a few rounds of chelation. -- > POTENTIALLY TOXIC ELEMENTS > element result ref range color > ============================================= > aluminum 2.4 <12 green > antimony 0.0025 <0.060 green > arsenic 0.12 <0.090 yellow > beryllium <0.01 <0.020 no line > bismuth 0.30 <0.13 yellow > cadmium 0.025 <0.10 green > lead 0.34 <1.0 green > mercury 1.4 <1.1 yellow > platinum <0.003 <0.005 no line > thallium <0.001 <0.010 no line > thorium <0.001 <0.005 no line > uranium 0.023 <0.060 green > nickel 0.46 <0.40 yellow > silver 0.02 <0.10 green > tin 0.12 <0.30 green > titanium 0.50 <1.0 green > total toxic representation yellow > > ESSENTIAL AND OTHER ELEMENTS > element result ref range color under/over 50% > ============================================================ > Calcium 465 475-1500 yellow/green under 50% > Magnesium 140 45-180 green over 50% > Sodium 340 24-180 yellow over 50% > Potassium 150 20-80 yellow over 50% > Copper 17 9.0-24 green over 50% > Zinc 120 130-200 yellow under 50% > Manganese 0.41 0.20-0.65 white at 50% > Chromium 0.35 0.20-0.45 green over 50% > Vanadium 0.029 0.018-0.065 white just under 50% > Molybdenum 0.088 0.040-0.10 green over 50% > Boron 4.0 0.7-4.0 green over 50% > Iodine 0.57 0.25-1.3 white at 50% > Lithium 0.005 0.008-0.040 yellow under 50% > Phosphorus 338 350-600 yellow under 50% > Selenium 0.78 0.95-1.7 yellow under 50% > Strontium 0.66 1.0-8.0 yellow under 50% > Sulfur 42200 43000-50000 yellow under 50% > Barium 0.57 0.50-5.0 green under 50% > Cobalt 0.013 0.013-0.050 green under 50% > Iron 7.6 5.8-14 green under 50% > Germanium 0.037 0.045-0.065 yellow under 50% > Rubidium 0.16 0.030-0.25 green over 50% > Zirconium 0.19 0.040-1.0 white just under 50% > > Ratios > Ca/Mg 3.32 4-30 > Ca/P 1.38 1-12 > Na/K 2.27 0.5-10 > Zn/Cu 7.06 4-20 > Zn/Cd >999 >800 >

Guest guest
Thanks, . These results have really upset me, because mercury poisoning was my last hope. I've tried hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA), higher/lower thyroid doses, adrenal hormones (hydrocortisone, pregnenolone, prednisolone), candida diet and meds, Gingko, Vinpocetine, etc. I've had this severe brain fog on and off for over 5 years. I currently take 180mg Armour Thyroid for hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's. I started taking thyroid meds over 15 years ago. Armour Thyroid works the best for me. My original crash with the brain fog began 5 years ago when my doctor lowered my thyroid dose from 120mg to 60 mg per day. A doctor I went to 3 1/2 years ago thought it was caused by adrenal stress (via saliva test) and started me on 7.5mg hydrocortisone (2.5mg 3 times per day). It didn't help, and he had me keep increasing the dose until I was up to 20-30mg per day. I was also taking pregnenolone (5-10mg/day) and prednisolone (don't remember the dose), DHEA, and testosterone. None of it helped at all, and I slowly tapered off all of the adrenal hormones. I currently live a pretty low stress life. That's strange that my sodium and potassium are higher than my calcium and magnesium. I've supplemented with 500-700mg calcium and 100mg magnesium per day for a long time, more recently adding an additional 500-750mg of magnesium. I haven't had any blood sugar problems that I know of. I'm normal weight and eat a plant based diet. My regular vitamin includes 20mg zinc and 35mg selenium. Do I need more? I have so many mercury symptoms: severe brain fog, poor short term memory, difficulty concentrating, autoimmune thyroid (Hashimoto's), some irritability, tinnitus, peeling skin on hands (Desquamation?), some depression, daytime drowsiness, low creativity, low motivation, hair loss, very gray, brittle, and thinning hair, difficulty metabolizing alcohol (I can feel my reaction after 1-2 sips of wine, and feel drunk after 1-2 glasses of wine), and deteriorating vision (I'm 48). The brain fog is the most frustrating. I used to have an almost photographic, detail oriented memory and now can't remember 2 items on my shopping list unless I write them down. I have taken a lot of the chelating supplements for the past month or so, such as magnesium, flax seed, DHA/EPA fish oil, milk thistle, a multi-vitamin/mineral, and additional vitamins C, B-50. I noticed that I have just started to dream (or remember my dreams), which was weird to realize I hadn't dreamed in a very long time. Could I be detoxing with my amalgams removed 3 months ago and just taking the supplements? I feel my thyroid dosage is adequate and my diet has been very healthy. I just received DMSA and DMPS in the mail (got my doctor to prescribe the DMPS) and would like to start ASAP. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks. > > I just got my DDI hair test results and it looks like I don't meet any > > of the counting rules. I had my 7 amalgams replaced with composites in > > January. Guest guest
I think it would be a good idea to do several rounds of chelation as a trial. You will know how toxic you are when you experience side effects from chelation. The arsenic and mercury are slightly elevated on the test and getting them out should be a good thing. Mineral transport can be normal if the major exposures were long ago and the majority of the mercury is in the brain. J > > Thanks, .
It seems like you have thoroughly explored endocrine support. The hair test does show possible adrenal issues, and I think you should at least track this if you chelate - watch your symptoms and perhaps get another adrenal test at some point. If it were me, I would want to be on adrenal support. If your cortisol tested low, that means your body needs it, even if you don't feel a benefit. My adrenals got worse when I started chelating. The sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium do not reflect the levels of those minerals in your body, so I think your current supplementation with those is fine. The zinc and selenium did not look that low, but it seemed worthwhile to mention them since the hair test was not showing me much else. > I have so many mercury symptoms: severe brain fog, poor short term > memory, difficulty concentrating, autoimmune thyroid (Hashimoto's), > some irritability, tinnitus, peeling skin on hands (Desquamation?), > some depression, daytime drowsiness, low creativity, low motivation, > hair loss, very gray, brittle, and thinning hair, difficulty > metabolizing alcohol (I can feel my reaction after 1-2 sips of wine, > and feel drunk after 1-2 glasses of wine), and deteriorating vision > (I'm 48). The brain fog is the most frustrating. I used to have an > almost photographic, detail oriented memory and now can't remember 2 > items on my shopping list unless I write them down. I recognize so much of myself in there, it's not funny. I'm 47 and was dealing with a lot of those symptoms for several years. I'm definitely doing better after 10 months of chelation. It is quite possible that you are toxic, even though the hair test is not showing it. I think you should definitely try chelating - I'm betting that you will see obvious effects. Be sure to start at a very low dose so as not to get yourself into worse trouble. > I have taken a lot of the chelating supplements for the past month or > so, such as magnesium, flax seed, DHA/EPA fish oil, milk thistle, a > multi-vitamin/mineral, and additional vitamins C, B-50. I noticed that > I have just started to dream (or remember my dreams), which was weird It is great that you are seeing some change from the supplements. You really need some others. I would especially consider molybdenum, vit E, coQ-10, acetyl-l-carnitine, digestive enzymes, and others. Do you have Andy's book? If not, read and reference information at Moria's site: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ > to realize I hadn't dreamed in a very long time. Guest guest
Thanks again, . My multivitamin/mineral has 37.5 mcg molybdenum and 30 IU vitamin E. I will look into the other supplements. I do have Andy's book, but I'm not crazy about taking a ton of supplements and was trying to take only what's necessary. I'm so relieved that someone can relate to my symptoms. What type of chelation do you do? DMSA or DMPS? How much per dose? How long are your rounds? Do you think I have detoxed some already due to amalgam removal and supplements? If I don't have many side effects on DMSA or DMPS, how long can I go on a round? How long off? Don't longer rounds detox more mercury? I don't care about the waking up at night to take a dose. I already get up 1-3 times per night to go to the bathroom. > > Thanks, . These results have really upset me, because mercury > > I'm sorry.
I do have Andy's book, but I'm not crazy about taking a > ton of supplements and was trying to take only what's necessary. I have a tendency to want to minimize the supps and dosages, too. I am still adding some of Andy's recommendations for specific problems, and increasing doses on some of the more basic things. I do this gradually, as I become more tuned in to my symptoms and my brain is working a bit better to think through what is most important. For now, just focus on the basics. You really should be taking more vit E though, and take it 3-4 times per day. Molybdenum is probably more important for some folks than for others. There is time to tinker your supplements later. > I'm so relieved that someone can relate to my symptoms. What type of > chelation do you do? DMSA or DMPS? How much per dose? How long are > your rounds? I started with DMSA last July, shortly after amalgam removal. I have to use DMSA because I have lead as well as mercury. I used 10 mg at first. I did have symptoms on it, though at the time I did not fully admit they were symptoms because they seemed fairly minor relative to my normal experience. If I were doing it over, I might have started a bit lower and gone a bit slower. My adrenals were not supported at the time - I am much more tolerant of the stress of chelation with adrenal support. I increased the dose to 12.5, 17, then 25 over a period of several months. I added ALA after three months and found I could only use 8 mg at first. I increased my DMSA to 50 mg a couple of months ago, and seem to be doing well on that. Recently increased ALA to 12.5 and that seems okay so far. ALA gives me more symptoms than DMSA. I started rounds at 3 days and have increased them up to 5-6 days. Do you think I have detoxed some already due to amalgam > removal and supplements? If I don't have many side effects on DMSA or I think amalgam removal and supplements improve your body's inherent detox ability. But it is important to chelate because it speeds up the process. The combination of the chelators and supplements can help to reduce symptoms while detoxing. If you do well on DMSA, you may want to continue with it. Some folks do better with DMPS (and it's certainly more convenient for dosing). You have to see how your experience goes. > DMPS, how long can I go on a round? How long off? Don't longer rounds > detox more mercury? I don't care about the waking up at night to take > a dose. I already get up 1-3 times per night to go to the bathroom. It is important to start with 3 day rounds so you can see how chelation, and your chosen chelator, affect you. You need to do several rounds at the same dose because side effects vary across rounds. Some people feel better on round, some feel better during the off days. It's important to be tuned in to your own experience, so you can prevent problems. I increased my rounds 1 day at a time. At first, I really could not do more than 3 days. I also get up multiple times at night, so dosing hasn't been an issue for me - but I got really worn out at first on only 3 day rounds. I'm a bit foggier at night now, and I have a little trouble remembering what I'm doing. I guess this is good thing due to sleeping a bit more soundly :-) but it's harder to remember to take the dose and reset the alarm. -- > > > Thanks, . Guest guest
Hi, this is from the autism-mercury list where they are helping me chelate my son through the Andy Cutler method. Here are my husbands hair test results. In his medical history, no almaglam fillings, he was fully vaccinated, formula fed, mom was a smoker. He suffered terrible burns on both legs as a very small child (2 years old) from an accident with gasoline. Seventeen years ago he was in the printing business for five years in an unventelated printshop, this is how I think he got these levels of toxics. He was disabled for ten years from his injury in the print shop. He did a year and a half of Glutathione I.V.'s from Dr. Rae over ten years ago for his chemical sensitivity, and his last hair test before the i.v.'s, he had delayed mineral transport. He has been back to work for the last five years, installing home theater, wires, cable, and working with electronics. He does install batteries in remotes everyday. He was diagnosed with sleep apnea two years ago. He uses a regular mattress & sheets. Six months ago he had surgery for an anal fissure. A month ago he had a prostate infection, and he was supposed to go in for a prostate cancer screening. He has done fine on all the supplements and just once a day has made him feel much better, reduced his headache, etc. and just the hawthorne berry was new over the past couple days. But about the last week, he didn't take any supplements, then the past two days he took supplements, then... Today he took a metal magnet pill with a milk thistle, mid day with a glass of water. The metal magnet made him not have a fever, but his body felt like it was burning up, and felt hot, he had constant bm's (four) when he usually only has one a day, some beginning to be diarrea, his face felt flushed, he felt dizzy, he had shortness of breath, and he felt like it was hard to consentrate on his work with these symptoms, which are not normal for him. I am thinking that I shouldn't give him this metal magnet pill until he is maybe gf/cf and on supplements longer, or what do you think? We were going to use it because we got it for $3.00 and it says it detoxes cadmium, and use this until we could afford chelation for him. From Andy's book I think he no longer meets the counting rules. I gleaned these tips after I examined his hair test and went through the book, I will star* by what we have done so far, please advise if this is correct. pot choride salt substitute*, we need to chelate with dmsa/ala while keeping a urine level of ph 7, thiamin with dmsa dose 10-50mg, TMG, B-12*, folic*, mag & pot*, coq10*, cartenine, hawthorne extract*, iron,Vit D*, calcium*, zinc*, low sulfer diet, high potasium diet, adrenal supplement, cortisol, vit c*, screen for prostate cancer, B1 Thiamine *, copper, tyrosine*, avoid low carb diets, have a low carb diet (one for cadmium and another for antimony!!!!) advise?, red meats*(he only ate white meat before we read this). I haven't got the proper dosages yet. It was funny since it said he needed both a low and high carb diet, I said, honey you get to eat whatever you want! Guest guest
Hi , Here are my thoughts.... Even though this test does not meet the counting rules there is likely mercury buried in the body and brain. By delayed mineral transport on the first test, do you mean deranged mineral transport? I wouldn't want him to have any more glutathione IVs. I am sure that they did give symptom relief. I have read reports from others who had symptom relief from these IVs and then reacted extremely at some point. I don't think anyone knows how to tell when a person will react to them. I wouldn't use the metal magnet again. I looked and found conflicting information about what is in them. Whatever is in them, I still wouldn't use them based on his symptoms. I can see that you have made a good start on supplementation. I know how hard it is to get people to take supplements (at least I know how resistant my family members are). I expect that you are using Andy's books to go by. Just some questions/comments. The sodium ascorbate, magnesium, B50, taurine can be increased and taken 3-4 times per day. The CLO could be increased. Has he had a ferritin blood test? Best to test to be sure it's not high already. Have you considered adding inositol? Is he using the salt substitute based on taste? What is the basis for adrenal support/cortisol? His hair test doesn't look like it has the characteristic adrenal signs to me. The low potassium might indicate thyroid problems. Does he have hypothyroid symptoms? Would he be able to get thyroid testing? TSH, total T3 and T4, free T3 and T4, thyroid antibodies? I'm probably missing things...
Guest guest
It was my understanding when reading Andy's books that it is pretty normal to have a few toxic metals show up in the yellow zone...think I read that in the beginning of the hair analysis book... ~IInga > Aluminum being in the high yellow range is odd since I have not had > any known exposures for years.
