Guest guest
I must also say that while I was in the hospital, the doctors and nurses rarely bothered me. I delivered with a midwife in a hospital. I spent most of the first day resting and nursing and visiting with my family (baby was born at noonish). I also had baby with me all the time. Of course, my hospital rest/stay was cut short when at 12 hours after birth, a nurse came to check baby's temp and pulse and discovered her heart rate was in the 270's. It was the NICU from that point on . <3 B

Guest guest
I hated being in the hospital, with my first two I delivered in a military hospital and there policy was three days. With my third I delivered in a regular hospital I had her at 10:30 at night and left the next morning. with the fourth ( RH ) I delivered at 4:30 in the morning and I was home by noon. With the fifth ( RH ) I thought well I will stay in the hospital for as long as they will let me so I can * get some rest * and not have to take care of the others, let me get waited on, well, I was wrong !! I delivered at 1:30 in the afternoon and was ready to come home by 4:00 but thought nah I will stay and get rest, every time I dozed off some one was in there checking blood pressure, temp. what I wanted for breakfast, if I wanted pictures taken blah blah blah, by midnight I was ready to just sneak out of the hospital and go home LOL as early as I could go the next day I was gone. I know that everyone was doing there job and a fine job they did but I did not rest at all untill I was finally home and in my own bed, cuddling with all five of my kids, Oh and hubby too LOL. Guest guest
I got more rest with rooming-in, since I didn't have to go to the nursery for feedings. I also took naps while the baby was out for shift change evals (that took an hour). At night they only did blood pressure once, but what got me was the lab tech drawing blood at 5 am! Guest guest
Yes, I too rested a lot in the hospital. I confess that I actually loved being in the hospital with my babies. I totally relax and love having all the helpers around. Have a question?? --press the button on the side of the bed and get an answer. Worried about something baby is doing/not doing? The nurse will be right in. Nobody bothered me at all, I slept great, with my baby and husband in the room, and slept wonderfully. With both kids I felt that these few days were a very special time, during which my husband and I tuned out everything else and focused completely on the new baby and on being a family. This not would have been possible at home. Of course, my hospital, a large Boston teaching hospital that delivers 10,000 babies a year, has a maternity unit that is designed like a fine hotel. Every room is private with own bathroom, etc. I might feel different if I didn't have access to such a nice facility. Also, the lc's were great and spent a lot of time with me when I had my first son and had early difficulties with nursing.
