Guest guest
Lori -- I've lost a lot lot lot of hair in a manner similar to yours. . . it simply sheds in the shower, while combing, etc. My hair loss peaks during times of thyroid fluctuation. The m.d. I see who is into naturopathic medicine (but he's a medical doc) said that hair loss can continue up to a year after the thyroid is regulated. He recommended evening primrose oil and borage oil for hair ( Shomon also recommends evening primrose). After a month on the primrose oil, my hair loss did slow down immensely. Then I stopped taking it (it's expensive and I kept forgetting) and my hair started falling out again. Now I'm taking it more regularly and my hair loss, once again, has slowed down. Guest guest
Hi Lori, You said: " Things your dr doesn't tell you about GD " . Or things my almost bald doctor could not understand why this hair loss upset me so. LOL. Then I kept forgetting and bringing it up again and again. Made no points here. :-) I notice hair loss increases every time my thyroid levels CHANGE, then settles back down once I an stable again. Things that make it worse are any chemical hair treatment...perms ( makes it break off real short ! ) and strong coloring. Also any hair clips that catch, and any rubber bands, no matter what they advertise, pull even more out. Good news is that my hair is finally not only growing back in , and the texture is improving, but it is now growing longer than it has since I was a kid ! So hang in there, this may just take time. -Pam-

One is, I have a trusted stylist that I rely on to help me gauge 'actual' hair loss versus my 'feared' hair loss. And the 2nd is, I have really fine but thick hair that I wore long, now it's uneven and stuff so I got this cut that's pretty short and kind of spiky/sassy, I use gel and mold it all kind of cute and spiky, then if I have gaps or thin spots, no one can even see them with all the other textired hair. SO, while that particular hair cut maybe isn't for you, I know that there are all kinds of cute texted layered cuts that help with fullness, and movement. We have to look as good as we can! Guest guest
Lori, Good job ! Don't you just love it...No high BP is always hyper !! Sheesh, that theory kept me to hypo for three years !!! We did go by labs, but the doctor erred on the side of hypo because of the heart rate. Not until I took over my own dose did my BP get better. Yes, I went by labs, but did not go by BP. I found every time I had my thyroid levels CHANGE my hair fell out. But the best part is that now my hair is growing longer than it has since I was a kid ! They kept telling me some people's hair just doesn't grow. Surprise ! -Pam-
