Re: Saddened by the number of new women

W,

I completely agree with you. Every night when I log on, I look at

the total number of members and it grows almost daily. I remember

the number was around 190 when I joined in May 2002 and now it's

over 250! I'm thankful every day that we have a site we can turn to

to deal with AS, but I agree that these women shouldn't have to join

a site if their doctors knew how to treat their fragile uteri (ie

post-miscarriage, post-d & c).

There has to be a way to get the message out. A friend of mine has

encouraged me to write a letter to Oprah Winfrey. My dh and I even

joked about going to her show when we were in town to see Dr. Valle.

I realize Oprah may not be the best place to start; however the

American Academy of OBGYNs would be. How do we do this? A letter

campaign? Heck, we have 250+ women who could overwhelm their email

address and/or regular postal mail. We need press coverage like the

estrogen studies that came out on post-menopausal women. This is a

very creative and diverse group, I'm sure if we put our minds to it,

we could figure something out.

This was a good vent, W. Thanks!! I feel better now!

Hi,

Maybe we could start with one of our more creative members designing an A4

poster that we could all print of and ask our Dr's if we could put it up in

their offices?

Something with a little description and the web address?

That way we could all feel like we had done something.

Your sister in sadness.

Sara,

Third person from one dr? I hope not!

Roxie,I agree with your post especially your statement "I also wonder how many women don't find this group and wish there was a way to get the word out about AS."When I was diagnosed with AS back in March 2002, I asked the doctor how often AS occurs. His reply was "you are the third patient this month to be diagnosed." From the moment he said you are among three, I wanted to search for those women. To this day I wonder if they have become members of this group. I hope they found their way....Sara O.

You mentioned you wondered how many women did not find this website. I was

diagnosed with severe AS three months ago. Surgery was scheduled. I

immediately searched the web for anything I could find on AS. Not only did I

not find this group, I didn't even find Ashermans.freeservers.com. I don't

know how I missed it because I thought I read everything there was available

(which isn't much). I only wish I had found this prior to surgery. (It

didn't go well). I'm here now though and thanks to all I am seeing an A list

Dr. in NY the end of December. A second opinion can't hurt. You taught me

that. Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving!
