Guest guest
Oh Rita! That is extremely disturbing about a spilling protein. NO, IgAN will not show up on an ultrasound. The only way to determine if it is IgAN is with a biopsy. I know that you can have nitrates (or is it nitrites) in your urine with UTIs, and certainly blood when there is so much infection and irritation, but I do not know about protein spill being caused by a UTI. One of my biggest fears is passing IgAN along to one of my daughters or grandchildren, great grandchildren etc. I know there are differing opinions on IgAN being hereditary, and I know you must be gripped by fear thinking of the possibility for a. I just pray that the peace that passes all understanding will fill you as you wait for more information, and of course you have my prayers that she does not have IgAN. Rita, I am so sorry she is having to go through this and I know it is breaking your heart to not be with her. Please keep us posted on how she is doing. Guest guest
A kidney ultrasound can show if there is a problem in the cortex of the kidneys, but it can't say what kidney disease it is. IgAN or any other will show up as abnormal, but probably not if it's still really mild. Let's hope there's nothing to see. Pierre My Daughter Hi Everyone: I am so beside myself. I just received a phone call from my daughter, a. She is at the doctor's office. Over the last few months, she's been having problems with UTI's. After examining her urine today, the found significant protein levels (don't know exact number) and blood in her urine. She is going for a Kidney ultrasound in 30 minutes. Please tell me if I'm wrong, but IgA would not show up on an ultrasound...correct? I've checked into UTI's and from what I have read, protein spill is NOT a symptom. She sounded a bit nervous on the phone and I just hate the fact that we are 3,000 miles apart! If a biopsy is warranted, I will certainly fly to NJ to be with her. I'll keep you all posted. I just pray that it is not anything chronic and that it will pass soon. Rita Rita from Jersey Ritanuch@...

Guest guest
Rita, you mentioned that you talked to your Neph about a, but you didn't share your lab results. Does this mean you got some disappointing news? I am watching you closely because we are both trying this awful Cellcept. I don't want you to feel any obligation to share your results, but just know I am concerned and thinking about you.
