Guest guest
Congratulations on the pregnancy. I am so jealous. I was diagnosed with kidney disease during my 2nd pregnancy and I was instantly considered high risk by my OB/GYN, because I was leaking too much protein. I had 3 doctors appointments a week. Two with a fetal specialist which they would do an ultrasound a week (fun) and the other was a fetal stress test, where I was hooked up to a monitor for 2 hours at a time and had to push the button everytime the baby moved, and one with OB/GYN not to mention the monthly Neph appointments. I was put on bedrest in May and induced at 36 weeks (July 30th) to prevent BP complications. I was on no medications throughout my pregnancy and amazingly enough, my BP was never an issue until immediately after I delivered! I stayed amazingly healthy (except for Proteinuria) thru the whole pregnancy and the baby was perfectly healthy and got to come home no problems. After delivery I had the biopsy and they found the IGAN and my doctor told me no more babies, my kidneys couldn't handle it. I was upset, but he quickly reminded me that I should be grateful for the two beautiful, healthy children I was able to have with this disease. Pregnancy does take its toll on your kidneys, but you are in remission and that's fantastic. I look at it like this, had I known about the disease, I probably wouldn't have been able to have my 2nd child, so I guess it was good that they didn't find it until I was already pregnant! Best of luck to you. If you ever have questions about pregnancy/IGAN or just want some pregnancy advice, e-mail me, I love to talk babies!!! Jill aj72300@...
