Guest guest
Sounds to me as though you don't trust your ortho, and that's not a good relationship to have, going through this whole thing. Kickbacks? I don't think so, generally, although probably there are a few who do. I was told that my ortho could not complete my treatment unless i had the surgery to give him enough space to be able to match up my teeth and jaws. i believe what I was told. I would guess that yes, your teeth will relapse, or move back to their earlier positions, particularly if you get the hardware removed with no retention. You probably can complete the ortho treatment, do the retainers, etc., and keep at least some of your gains -- but hey - - I'm no doc, and not a specialist. I had the surgery because, at least in part, I was told I would need it to improve my chances of long-term retention. Cammie > Hello, > > A few months back I went to an orthodontist who noticed I had a slight underbite. He tried getting me to go to an oral surgeon, but I told him I couldn't afford it and asked him if he could work around it. He assured me he could and that I didn't have to go see an oral surgeon. That is until a few visits later after I have all the hardware stuck on my teeth, he tells me if I don't see an oral surgeon, I'm making him work with one hand tied behind his back and I'm assuming all the risks. I have two questions. 1) Do orthodontists get kickbacks from oral surgeons? and 2) if I stop orthodontic treatment, will my teeth move back to their original positions? By the way, the orthodontist seemed to get annoyed when I went to a different oral surgeon than to whom he referred me. > > > > >
