Kathy,

Yes the isolation is difficult. I spend a great deal

of time alone. I live alone, so now that I am not

working I am alone all the time unless a friend

visits. Luckily, I have a close friend who works

part-time and I can see her almost every day, but my

other friends are workaholics like I used to be and I

rarely see them, although we talk by phone or email

each other.

Because all this is new for me, I don't know what to

expect. I keep thinking i will get better but what

seems to happen is that more and more symptoms drop

out of the sky and make it more and more difficult to

get out. Right now, I don't take any pain meds. I have

an appt. with a pain clinic, but I live in SF and

things move slowly, make that very slowly here. (San

Francisco) I have been trying to get something for the

pain since late February and finally went to the ER

and got a prescription.

What do you, others, do to make good use of your time

and to feel you are " part of the world " even if you

are pretty much housebound like me? Curious!

Wishes,

PS I understand you (the woman with tendonitis) about

wanting the blackboard cleaned, so to speak, it's hard

for me too to school down b/c of the wrist pain...

Thanks, , your life sounds a lot like mine. I

appreciate getting out in a way I never did before.

It's such a freeing event to be out in the world, to

feel well enough to tolerate the noises, lights, pain,

etc. I think I'm a much more appreciative person and

it doesn't take nearly as much to make me grateful.

Oodles,

Hi ,

I personally love to read, and I visit the library,

when I get out and spend a long time browsing and

picking out books.

I also watch home decorationg shows, and

Lowell gets me motivated. I go to the second-hand

shops and find great bargains. It may take me a long

time to get something accomplished, but I take a lot

of

breaks and encourage myself by saying to myself,

" well,

you're getting there! "

I have days that I don't go anywhere and I try to

pamper myself on those days. Sometimes I sew,

sometimes I do a little crafts, sometimes I hang one

picture (I love to pound holes in the wall!) I

surround

myself with beautiful things, at a price I can afford!

I also write a journal and reflect on my thoughts and

meditate.

LOL,

Sue
