Guest guest
Hi everyone: My family is at a crossroads re my father's gastric cancer. After many tests and much research, the only medical option he has is a total gastrectomy. If any of you know someone who has had a total or near-total gastrectomy, I would really appreciate hearing about it. Perhaps responses can be emailed to me privately at shen@... so that it doesn't take up the group's time. In particular, I'd like to know about the quality of life, survival rate and length of survival. Experiences with alternative treatments would also be welcome and appreciated. Needless to say, since I was unwilling to part with my thyroid, I do not have any hope for parting with an entire stomach. However, I am researching to provide my Dad with the best information I can on either side. Thanks very much.
