Hello, I just wanted to thank all of you that responded to my cp questions. I

have made two batches of CP soap this weekend and now I have t.v. stands sitting

throughout my dining room with soap curing on them. The first batch I used a

recipe I got from Sugar Plum Sundries, called Handmade Honey Soap but added and

changed some things around. I added 1oz of sweet almond oil, changed the lye to

2.6oz, and changed the water to 6.5oz. Recipe called for 12oz veg. short., 4oz

coconut oil, 1oz beeswax, 1cup distilled water, 2oz lye, and 1/8 cup honey.

Also added 1tsp Natural Honey Almond FO. It was a little soft coming out of the

mold after 24hrs, is that normal? Well, I guess I'll have to wait 3 weeks to see

if I ruined it or if it turns out to be a nice bar. It smelled wonderfully and

after a day of curing has gotten harder. After the first batch, I was addicted!

So the next day made another batch, but this time with a recipe I put together.

I used oils that I had on hand, olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter. I wanted

to make a peppermint and chocolate soap. So I used the cocoa butter for the

smell and cocoa powder at the end for the swirl. I used too much soap for the

swirl, looked more like frosting in the mold. When I took it out of the mold

late last night after 24 hrs, it looked pretty cool, not the look I was hoping

for but cool netherless and smells so yummy. Because I didn't use a recipe

someone else made I don't know how long to let cure. I thought maybe 3 weeks.

Anybody have any ideas? Also, when I was cutting it in some places it kind of

crumbled (didn't fall a part just chipped off) and not sure why. Was it the

knife I was using or did something go wrong with my recipe? Is that a sign that

I need more oil or water or less lye? Since I'm new and not much experience in

this I have know idea.
