Guest guest
Is she drinking enough? If she is drinking at least 1/2 glass of water, I wonder why the capsule is getting stuck? Sorry not to be of more help. Is the burning sensation in her throat? I have heard others report heartburn with Ala. throat burning, any ideas? > > > Hi guys, > > My daughter is doing an ALA round. Guest guest
Hi , My kids have complained of a burning throat and sore chest (heartburn) when on round with ALA. They are taking 25 mg tablets, slipped into a gel cap. We're on round 24. The burning hasn't happened every time, but occasionally. I've had heartburn on round too. Again, not always, and to varying degrees. I try to drink a good gulp of water when I'm taking my dose and encourage the kids to do so too. It's harder in the middle of the night because we all just want to get back to sleep, so we are taking a tiny sip and then laying back down. gave us the great idea to sip a tea or gruel (depending on how thick you like it) of hot water and slippery elm powder (it's good with a little cinnamon and honey). It heals and soothes irritated mucousal lining in the esophagus. I've found this helps immensely. Dh drinks it almost daily and he says it has helped his heartburn (he is not chelating). Perhaps your dd can cut back on any other foods which might be contributing to the heartburn. Hopefully, she won't experience this every round! Is it going well otherwises? in Illinois

Guest guest
TK--- Teach her how to swallow correctly and provide enough fluid to wash it down the esopagus. There are specific techniques for people who have trouble swallowing to learn how. Once they do like me I can swallow a whole hand full of vitamins at a time and not have any problems getting them down. One technique is to make sure she drinks first then puts the capsule in her mouth, fill her mouth with enough fluid to swish the capsule/s around and make sure it/they get wet and don't stick to the tongue or palet then swallow with more water. > > > > Hi guys, > > My daughter is doing an ALA round. If she is actually having acid symptoms, the ascorbic acid would exacerbate things and you might want to try another filler. I can't take ascorbic acid on an empty stomach. --

Guest guest
Thanks , TK and , I have some good ideas now. It's not easy to chelate a teen ager. It's like trying to hit a moving target, moving and distracted by other teen agers. I wouldn't have been able to do this before when I was less well. It's touch and go now. I've stopped my round, because I forgot my dose ( remembered her's that was at the same time). Lots of luck to us all J > > Is she drinking enough? Guest guest
, I'm going to have to try to figure out if she is having heartburn or if it's burning from the ascorbic acid/ALA. The round is going well, I think. Haven't seem her in a while. The last time we spoke she said there where no symptoms (she increased from 5 mg last time to 10 mg this time). She's taking supplements more regularily. I included a CLO gelcap in every dose. Should be a memorable summer.
