Guest guest
First, Amy was our theraptist with Blythe's 2nd DOC and she is fantastic. Please say hello for us. I think you'll have a better understanding of why 6-12 mo in a single band @ 5 mo is a slightly bizarre notion once you really get started. It isn't just the amount of foam... Yes, DOCs are " good " for 4 mo vs. STARbands for 6 mo, but younger babies (under 4-9 mo or so) don't usually " wear out " the lifespan of the band. Typically, they outgrow the band. Even if there was 2X more foam, it seems like it would really be pushing it to last 6 mo. As I mentioned, Blythe was banded at 4.5 mo and OUTGREW 2 bands in 3.5 mo. And she is a little baby (5th percentile) who hasn't grown a ton. Because of the way bands are adjusted, 2X more foam wouldn't give a band twice the lifespan. In no way am I saying that Barringer is wrong or that this hasn't been his experience, it just seems like a LONG time compared to the experience of what I've seen on this board. Now, one of the " red flags " I had with Panchal's office was that they said that very few of their patients actually COMPLIED with the helmet instructions and actually kept it on 23/7. If his patients are not wearing the band all the time, and this group it who he uses to measure the length of treatment, then I can see how it would take a lot longer. Obviously, the group of parents who use the boards are a dedicated bunch. Who knows, I am just glad that you are happier with Amy and the gang in Dallas. I am sure that the drive won't seem as long since you really tried to explore your options. I always felt that way. > > > > > > > > > > I called Barringers office today to cancel our Monday appt. > I > > > > don't > > > > > know how they learned that i was switching to CT, but they > knew > > > > all > > > > > about it.
